At about 6:40 a.m. on October 6, a container truck with a Ho Chi Minh City license plate pulling a 40-foot trailer was traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway , in the direction of Thu Duc City to Dong Nai.
When the vehicle had just passed the Long Phuoc toll station, Long Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city (HCMC) about 100 meters, suddenly smoke and fire rose from the container truck's engine.
Discovering the fire, the driver quickly pulled the car to the side of the road, opened the door to escape from the cabin, and shouted for help to put out the fire. In just a few minutes, the fire had engulfed the entire cabin of the container truck.
Major Hoang Xuan An - Captain of Highway Patrol Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department) said that after receiving information about the fire, the unit coordinated with Vietnam Expressway Technical Services Joint Stock Company, Fire Prevention and Rescue Force of Thu Duc City Police to approach and control the fire.
The fire burned the entire front of the container truck, leaving only the frame. The incident also caused a long traffic jam on the highway.
To limit the amount of vehicles pouring onto the highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai, creating more pressure, the traffic police have separated traffic from a distance, directing vehicles to Pham Van Dong - Hanoi Highway to 'avoid' the highway.
At 9 o'clock, traffic on the highway was still locally congested.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
