The end of the year is the time of many festivals, especially Lunar New Year, the demand for meat and livestock products increases.

Meats such as pork, beef, chicken, duck, along with processed products such as ham, sausage, and lap xuong have become staples in family meals. This brings great opportunities for farmers, cooperatives, and businesses in the livestock industry.

Demand for livestock food consumption is always high at the end of the year.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Director of Dong Tien Livestock Cooperative (HTX), Dak Sin commune, Dak R'lap district, the cooperative is currently preparing to sell about 5,000 breeding pigs.

These breeding pigs mainly serve the year-end livestock market of people in provinces and cities across the country such as Dong Nai and Dak Lak. Along with that, the farm raises nearly 2,000 pigs for meat to serve the market in and outside the province.

Mr. Huong commented that due to the impact of storms and floods, some areas of livestock farming are facing difficulties and losses. This will partly affect the supply of pork products on the market. This means that the price of pork tends to increase but not much, not suddenly at the end of the year.

Pork prices may increase slightly at the end of the year due to some localities being affected by floods.

Taking this opportunity, accompanying livestock farmers nationwide, the Cooperative continues to carry out its motto and mission of safe livestock farming, producing healthy, well-grown and well-developed piglets. For pork products, the Cooperative ensures food safety and no antibiotics to improve the health of consumers.

The farm uses high-tech farming methods, from providing food, water, controlling the living environment, to caring for and monitoring animal health through semi-automatic and automatic systems.

Dong Tien Cooperative, Dak Sin Commune, Dak R'lap District focuses on safe livestock farming and food hygiene.

Mr. Huong affirmed: One of the top factors that consumers care about is food quality and safety. Consumers are becoming more and more careful in choosing food, requiring clean and safe products.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tang Hung, Bac Son village, Dak Gan commune, Dak Mil district, his family has maintained poultry farming for many years.

In 2024, the price of materials and animal feed will be more stable, so he will continue to develop poultry farming, mainly ducks. Currently, the family has 7,000 super meat Peking ducks.

Every 2 months, the family sells a batch at a price of about 45,000 VND/kg, with an average profit of about 7,000 VND/duck. Mr. Hung hopes that with the upcoming 7,000 ducks, he will have a profit of 50 million VND.

Mr. Hung believes that the opportunity to increase income at the end of the year is great, so he has made careful preparations from now on in all stages from barns, breeds, food, to care and disease prevention.

Dak Nong poultry flock now reaches 3 million heads

According to Mr. Hung, if there is no reasonable plan, the supply of meat and related products may encounter difficulties, especially in the context of many unpredictable animal diseases as at present.

In 2024, although dangerous epidemics still occur, Dak Nong's livestock herd develops quite stably. The province's total herd of cows is currently at 27,000, an increase of 3,000 over the same period last year. The total herd of pigs is 480,000, an increase of 50,000 over the same period last year. The province's total herd of poultry is 3 million, an increase of 900,000 over the same period last year.

According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the promotion of livestock farming by the people, businesses, and cooperatives in the province not only ensures food for the province but also contributes to stabilizing the supply for the national market.

The industry actively implements solutions for inspection and control to increase the effectiveness of disease prevention and control in animals through vaccination, quarantine, sample analysis, and disinfection.
