At this Asian Games , the Vietnamese chess team participated with excellent players Lai Ly Huynh, Nguyen Thanh Bao, Nguyen Hoang Yen, Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang, Le Thi Kim Loan and Nguyen Thi Phi Liem, with the goal of competing for the highest medal with a very strong opponent, China.
