"The tournament helps young players gain competition experience, especially how to deal with opponents with different physiques and playing styles," said acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh.
Viktor Le's mark
Vietnam U22 team participated in CFA China Team 2025 with two overseas Vietnamese players Le Khac Viktor (Viktor Le, Russia) and Andrej Nguyen An Khanh (Andrej Nguyen, Czech). In which, being called up to the Vietnam U22 team for the first time, Viktor Le played outstandingly in all 3 matches he started in the tournament.
Playing as an attacking midfielder at Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club, Viktor Le was arranged by coach Dinh Hong Vinh to play as a right winger in the 3-4-3 formation of the Vietnam U22 team. Fighting fiercely, showing a very good tactical vision, both goals of the Vietnam U22 team were contributed by Viktor Le.
That was the pass for Quoc Viet to run down and score the opening goal in the match against U22 China. Putting pressure on the Korean U22 defenders to clear the ball helped Thanh Nhan score in the opening match. Viktor Le also participated in effective defensive support right from the opponent's field in the match against Uzbekistan.
However, Andrej Nguyen could not integrate as well as Viktor Le even though he was called up to the Vietnam U22 team for the third time. He was only on the bench in the first two matches against U22 Korea and Uzbekistan and was not named in the final match against the host team China.
Frame shaping
After the match against U22 Korea, coach Dinh Hong Vinh only made one change to the starting lineup in the remaining two matches. That was center back Duc Anh replacing Nhat Minh against U22 Uzbekistan and Anh Quan in the right midfielder position, pushing Hong Phuc to play right forward in the match against U22 China.
Having started all 3 matches and won the title of "Best Goalkeeper of the tournament", goalkeeper Cao Van Binh will be a strong opponent for Tran Trung Kien in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games. This is because Trung Kien did not start any matches against Cambodia or Laos during the FIFA Days in March.
Conceding only 2 goals in 3 matches, the U22 Vietnam defense brings peace of mind. In particular, the three main central defenders are almost determined to be Le Van Ha (1.84m tall) - Hieu Minh (1.84m) - Nhat Minh (1.78m). The central defender who can compete for an official position in the U22 Vietnam team in the near future can only be Pham Ly Duc, the player who was called up to the Vietnam team for the first time by coach Kim Sang Sik.
In the attack, without Dinh Bac (injured) and Bui Vi Hao (concentrating on the Vietnam national team), Viktor Le played prominently in the right forward position. The two remaining forwards in the 3-4-3 formation, Quoc Viet (middle) and Thanh Nhan (left), also scored. Dinh Xuan Tien replaced Quoc Viet in the 84th minute of the match against U22 Korea and in the 72nd minute of the match against U22 Uzbekistan and also performed well.
Coach Dinh Hong Vinh shared about the achievements in CFA China Team 2025: "The players have improved their ability to control the match, maintain concentration and enhance coordination efficiency in the tactical system. These experiences are very important for the whole team to aim for the big goals ahead."
