Specifically, at around 1:00 p.m. today, a working group from the Traffic Police Department, Can Tho City Police, was patrolling and controlling on National Highway 1 when they encountered a taxi driver carrying a pregnant woman asking for help.
This taxi was traveling from Tien Giang province to Can Tho, and there was a pregnant woman in the car whose water had broken and was in a dangerous condition. The woman had no relatives accompanying her.
After checking and realizing the critical situation, the task force commander assigned Lieutenant Colonel Mai Hong Phong to use a specialized motorbike to lead the taxi to take the pregnant woman to Can Tho Maternity Hospital for timely emergency care.
According to information from Can Tho City Obstetrics Hospital, the pregnant woman, Vo Thi Bich Ng. (32 years old, from Tien Giang province), suddenly had her water break and went into labor while walking to Can Tho bridge. She was escorted to the hospital by traffic police.
Immediately after arriving, the pregnant woman was examined and the doctor said that she was pregnant with her third child, 38.4 weeks pregnant, head down in labor. When she was brought to the emergency room, she had placenta previa and heavy vaginal bleeding. The on-call team immediately administered IV fluids, injected hemostatic drugs, and consulted for emergency surgery.
The surgical team successfully performed the emergency surgery, the baby boy weighed 3,380g. Currently, after surgery, the mother and baby are in relatively stable condition: The mother is being monitored for blood transfusion in the post-operative room; the baby was taken to the pediatrics - neonatal department for continued care.
