Cooperate with RCL - Asia's leading international container shipping line
On August 28, the ship MTT SAISUNEE (Malaysian nationality) belonging to RCL shipping line docked at Chu Lai port, opening a new shipping route directly connecting to India. The ship transported auto parts, mechanical parts, fruits, household goods, furniture, garments... of enterprises in Tam Thang Industrial Park, THACO Chu Lai (Quang Nam) and VSIP Industrial Park (Quang Ngai) for export to India.
RCL is one of the leading shipping lines in Asia, established in 1979 in Thailand. The company currently owns and operates 49 container ships with 69 destinations in India and other countries in Asia and the Middle East. RCL's fleet has a total capacity of nearly 79,000 TEUs, meeting international standards for safety and environmental protection.

Initially, Chu Lai Port cooperated with RCL shipping line to operate the route from Xiamen (China) - Chu Lai - Port Klang (Malaysia) - Chennai - Kolkata - Kattupalli (India), with a frequency of 3 trips/month. Thereby, providing customers with many suitable transportation options at optimal costs, while developing the import-export market in the Central and Central Highlands regions.
Diversify shipping routes, improve service capacity
As an important import-export gateway in the Central region and also a point of attraction for transit goods from the Central Highlands (Vietnam), Laos and Cambodia, Chu Lai port is promoting cooperation with international shipping lines (SITC, CMA CGM, ZIM, RCL...) to exploit intra-Asia service routes connecting directly to China, Korea, Japan; trans-Pacific routes to markets in the Americas and Europe.

In particular, with the opening of more direct shipping routes to major ports in India such as Chennai, Kolkata, Kattupalli, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, etc., Chu Lai port has provided many optimal transportation solutions, meeting the import and export needs of businesses in the region, contributing to bringing Vietnamese goods to the South Asian market through the "gateway" of India conveniently. From now on, instead of having to transit to ports in the South and North, businesses in the Central region can import and export goods to India at Chu Lai, significantly reducing time and costs.
Mr. Phan Van Ky, Director of Chu Lai Port said: “We are focusing on investing, upgrading synchronous infrastructure, applying information technology in port operations to improve service quality. Thereby, increasing connectivity with international shipping corporations and shipping lines, while attracting goods from import and export areas through the port”.
Thanks to a variety of new shipping routes and a constantly expanding customer network, in 2024, the volume of goods passing through Chu Lai port is expected to increase by more than 40% compared to 2023.

In the coming time, Chu Lai port will continue to promote cooperation with international shipping lines to increase the frequency of ships, and at the same time complete and put into operation the 50,000-ton port to receive large-capacity ships, meeting the increasing demand of the market. In addition, the port will improve the capacity of wharf exploitation, warehouses, vehicles, focusing on exploiting goods with much room for development in the Central Highlands (Vietnam), Laos, Cambodia such as agricultural - forestry - mineral exports.
Along with solutions to improve service quality, Chu Lai port also streamlines processes and procedures, optimizes systems, etc. to gradually realize the goal of becoming an international cargo transit center.
