CONSIDERATIONS WHEN REGISTERING YOUR WISHES
Sharing in the program Exam Season Consulting, Dr. Pham Tan Ha, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), noted the new points about this year's admission. According to Mr. Ha, candidates should learn about admission methods such as: direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; considering the scores of the competency assessment exam organized by universities; considering the scores of the high school graduation exam; considering academic records and considering international certificates. Although these methods are used by many schools, each school will have different specific regulations. And with any method, candidates still have to register for admission.

"This year, when registering their wishes (NV), candidates only register the school code and major code, not the admission method. The NVs are also arranged in order of priority, in which NV 1 has the highest order and each candidate is only admitted to 1 NV", Dr. Ha especially noted.
Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, also said that there are many new points in this year's enrollment. Among them, there is the conversion of common scores between methods to ensure fairness among candidates when applying to the same school. When converting equivalence, the methods may have the same admission score. "The best way to have more opportunities is to achieve the best results in all methods. For example, even if you get a high score in the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam, candidates should still focus on achieving high results in the high school graduation exam. If you skip the high school graduation exam, you may lose good opportunities compared to other students," Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan advised.
C CHOOSE THE SUBJECT THAT IS MOST INTERFERED WITHOUT THE ADMISSION COMBINATIONS
This year, the Ministry of Education and Training does not limit the number of admission combinations, so universities use more combinations, including many new subjects of the 2018 general education program such as: technology, information technology, economic education and law... The issue that students need to pay attention to, according to Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, is how to choose which subjects among the subjects they are studying to take the high school graduation exam.
"You need to choose 2 elective subjects and 2 compulsory subjects that overlap the most among the admission combinations of the universities and colleges you wish to study at. Then, the chance of being counted for admission will be the highest because the software will calculate the score according to the admission combination of the university and on the basis of the exam score you achieved. Therefore, you need to pay close attention to this new point," added the Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry.
Answering a parent's concern directly in the program about how to register for NV, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan explained that this year, TS registered for admission on the Ministry of Education and Training's common portal online. Each student is given a personal account to register according to the instructions of the high school. According to the admission regulations, TS can register for an unlimited number of NV, of which only 1 NV is admitted. Therefore, although there is no limit, TS should not register for too many NV.
"The general advice is to only have less than 10 NV, in which the lowest NV is always at a level that ensures a "sure" chance of being admitted. In addition to officially registering for admission on the Ministry of Education and Training portal, some schools conduct preliminary selection with some special criteria, TS should pay more attention," said Dr. Nhan.
Parents and students continued to ask questions to Dr. Pham Tan Ha, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), after the end of the consultation program.

CHOOSE A MAJOR OF STUDY BASED ON DREAMS OR ABILITIES?
Thanh Ngan (student of Truong Dinh High School) asked: "Between the choice: University of Theatre and Cinema is my dream, and medicine is my ability, if I pass both, which should I choose?". Dr. Pham Tan Ha said: "Dreams don't have to pay, but reality will prove whether you have the ability to make your dream come true or not. Therefore, you need to determine whether your dream can be realized or not, if not, you can both live in reality and pursue your dream. You can work as a doctor but still don't have to stop your passion for cinema."
Answering concerns about job opportunities in psychology, Dr. Pham Tan Ha said that although training in this field is the same, each school has differences. With the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, the first difference is that the entrance score is very high. Next, the training orientation of this field of the school is therapeutic psychology. Providing additional information, Dr. Huynh Pham Dung Phat, Deputy Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, also informed about the names of specific job positions in psychology such as: counseling, psychotherapy, school psychologist, life skills expert, child psychological support specialist... Dr. Phan Thi Cam Giang, Head of Psychology Department, Saigon International University, said that graduates of this field can work in hospitals, schools, non-governmental organizations, lecturers, researchers, start their own businesses...
A student asked: "With the specialized competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, how many subjects do you need to take to be considered for admission?". Dr. Huynh Pham Dung Phat said that this year the school will organize 2 separate exams: the specialized competency assessment exam and the aptitude exam. Of which, the specialized competency assessment exam has 3 rounds, the first round will take place next weekend. To be considered for admission from this exam, students only need to take 1 subject combined with the scores of 2 other subjects from the high school transcript to be considered for admission to the school.
Student Pham Quang Thuong (Truong Dinh High School) asked about career development opportunities in Vietnam with nuclear engineering. Master Hoang Thanh Tu, Deputy Head of Information and Communication Department, University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), said that this is a difficult major in the field of engineering, with not many training quotas in schools, for example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences only has 30-50 quotas each year, so the opportunity to compete after graduation is not high. Regarding job opportunities, Master Tu added: "This major is not only applied in the nuclear field but also in many other fields such as: environment, waste treatment, healthcare, agriculture...".

The difference between college and university
According to Master Tran Viet Dung, Head of Training Department of Cao Thang Technical College, the difference between these two levels is first of all the study time (college study is from 2 to 3 years, university is from 3 to 6 years). Besides, college study has more practice time, so right after graduation, college students can start working immediately. The school's training reality shows that from the second year, many businesses have contacted to place recruitment orders.
