" Vietnamese and Chinese football are both struggling to find their way to the world. It is difficult to compare these two football backgrounds. I think that the level of Vietnam and China is at the same level and neither side is too superior ," coach Troussier told Chinese media on the afternoon of October 9.

The Vietnamese team will have a friendly match with the Chinese team on October 10. Coach Troussier and his team will face Uzbekistan on October 13. Due to the regulation that each team can only count a maximum of 2 international friendly matches during the FIFA Days each month, the match with Uzbekistan is only an unofficial friendly match.

The match against the Korean team is the second match during the October FIFA Days of the Vietnamese team.

Coach Troussier believes that there is not a big gap between Vietnamese and Chinese football.

Coach Troussier believes that there is not a big gap between Vietnamese and Chinese football.

These matches all serve the preparation process towards the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup of the Vietnamese team.

The French strategist said: " I am very honored to start my journey to the World Cup with a match against China. I worked here for 6 years. Chinese football has many good players and will soon return to the World Cup. No matter what the result of the upcoming friendly match is, we will remain steadfast in our goal ."

According to Mr. Troussier, the goal of Vietnam football participating in the World Cup is not easy. First of all, the Vietnam team needs to be in the top 8 in Asia. Vietnam football must change its playing philosophy, pursuing a short ball control style, proactively playing the ball instead of waiting for defense and counterattack.

" About 40% of young players were called up to the Vietnam national team for the first time when I arrived here. We want to participate in the 2026 World Cup and the upcoming Asian Cup. I will use 40-50% of young players in the match against China. I have not revealed the details yet, but tomorrow you will see my best options, " added coach Troussier.
