Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên29/10/2024

On the evening of October 29, the Vietnamese women's team faced the host country China's women's team in the final round of the international friendly tournament taking place in Chongqing City (from October 23 to 29). In this tournament, coach Mai Duc Chung's team had a successful opening match, defeating the Uzbekistan women's team with a score of 2-0.

Facing a very strong Chinese women's team, coach Mai Duc Chung fielded what was considered the strongest starting lineup of the Vietnamese team at the moment. However, with the advantage of playing at home and superior class, the Chinese women's team dominated the match.

For most of the first half, the Vietnamese women's team played a very resilient defense against the home team's attacks. In just the first 10 minutes, goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh had to block the ball twice from shots from Chinese players. The most dangerous situation since the beginning of the match came in the 18th minute, when Wang Yangwen accelerated to rush straight into the Vietnamese women's penalty area, but the final shot from a tight angle by this striker wearing the number 10 shirt went over the crossbar.

The starting lineup of the Vietnamese women's team against China

It was not until the 41st minute that the Chinese women's team's attacking efforts were rewarded with the opening goal. After receiving an accurate pass from her teammate, Zhang Xin broke free and handled the ball neatly to shoot diagonally. Although goalkeeper Jin Qing touched the ball with her hand, she was unable to change its trajectory and had to concede the goal.

In the 55th minute, the Vietnamese women's team almost caused a surprise to equalize 1-1 against China. After a quick counterattack, substitute player Nguyen Thi Truc Huong fired a long-range shot to beat the Chinese goalkeeper, but unfortunately the ball hit the post.

During the remaining time of the match, the Vietnamese women's team had more counterattacks. Ngan Thi Van Su had a shot on target but could not get past the home team's goalkeeper. On the other hand, the Chinese women's team, although still taking the initiative and attacking a lot, did not score a goal during the official match time.

In the 90+3 minute, from a Chinese player's high pass into the penalty area, Kim Thanh failed to catch the ball and Thu Thao accidentally scored an own goal. In the end, the Vietnamese women's team lost 0-2 to the Chinese women's team.
