Mr. Luu Ba Mac, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST), said: In recent times, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with relevant units to advise the Provincial People's Committee to carry out tasks to promote border tourism cooperation such as: Strengthening cooperation in managing cross-border tourism activities; removing difficulties and obstacles to create favorable conditions for travel businesses and tourists to cross the border; promoting tourism promotion, digital transformation; building specific border tourism products, especially cooperating to build the Tan Thanh (Vietnam) - Po Chai (China) cross-border tourism cooperation area with many types of diverse, quality and attractive services, advising to increase the time for tourists to use travel passes to 2 days, 1 night (currently traveling during the day) ... to promote border tourism to develop commensurate with its potential advantages, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
Since 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has held talks with relevant agencies and units of China and reached a common consensus through the Memorandum of Cooperation "Tan Thanh (Vietnam) - Po Chai (China) Cross-border Tourism Cooperation Zone". Implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation, over the past 2 years, cultural, sports and tourism activities on the occasion of holidays, New Year and traditional anniversaries of the two sides have been enhanced with nearly 50 cooperation events. Through these activities, tourists to Vietnam and tourists from Vietnam to China have been introduced, promoted and attracted, contributing to promoting the effective exploitation of border tourism products between the two sides.
Besides bilateral cooperation activities, the province also pays special attention to introducing and promoting to attract Chinese tourists through tourism promotion activities.
Mr. Ly Xuan Thach, Director of Thanh Vu Trade and Tourism Company Limited, said: In 2024, we participated in about 10 tourism promotion events in China and Vietnam. Participating in promotion activities and trade fairs in China is very important for us in promoting the tourism market and exploiting new tourist routes, replacing traditional tours. At the same time, it also helps us have the opportunity to approach and welcome quality tourist groups to Vietnam for tourism. Thanks to that, in the first quarter of 2025, the number of customers coming to the company increased by 30% compared to the same period in 2024.
Along with tourism promotion measures, another important factor that the province pays special attention to is the work of linking, building new tourism products and managing border tourism activities, simplifying procedures and entry and exit mechanisms... In particular, demonstrating the determination to strengthen border tourism cooperation, most recently, in mid-April 2025, the working delegation of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism attended the cooperation program to build cultural products, border tourism between Vietnam and China in Pingxiang and Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Here, the two sides proposed directions for cooperation in developing cultural products, friendship tourism Lang Son - Pingxiang, and strengthening conservation activities, building cultural and historical tourism routes following in Uncle Ho's footsteps. The two sides also agreed to jointly advise and speed up the organization of the ceremony to announce the extension of the 2-day, 1-night travel pass and some tourist routes between Pingxiang (China) and some districts and cities of Lang Son province. This is a practical and meaningful foreign activity, strengthening the solidarity, friendship, understanding and cooperation between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son province and Pingxiang town, while contributing to promoting sustainable border tourism development based on the foundation of unique cultural and historical values.
We believe that, with the joint efforts of all levels and sectors, together with the consensus of businesses and the community, Lang Son border tourism will continue to achieve more success, not only contributing to the socio-economic development of the province but also strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and China, bringing unique and memorable experiences to visitors from all over the world.
