Vietnam women's volleyball team is ready to create a miracle at the world tournament when participating in the FIVB Challenger Cup in the Philippines for the second time.

The 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup women's volleyball tournament brings together eight teams including host Philippines, Vietnam, Belgium, Sweden, Puerto Rico, Kenya, Czech Republic and Argentina.

The teams are drawn into pairs to compete in a knockout round, with the winners advancing to the semi-finals, followed by a third-place match and the final. The winner of this tournament will qualify for the Volleyball Nations League (a tournament featuring the world’s best teams) next season.

As the lowest ranked team in the world (not counting the host team), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face the host team, the Philippines, in the first round. This is an opportunity for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team to win and enter the semi-finals when we are ranked 21 places above our opponents on the rankings.

If they win, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will make history by winning a match for the first time in a world-class tournament. In 2023, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team participated in the FIVB Challenger Cup and the World Club Championship but lost all three matches with a score of 0-3.

According to the schedule, the match between the Vietnamese women's volleyball team and the Philippine women's volleyball team will take place at 5:30 p.m. on July 5 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
