Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien emphasized this at the 12th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Ho Chi Minh City, term 2024 - 2029, held on October 2.
The Congress was also honored to welcome the participation of Mr. Nguyen Van Nen - Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; former President Truong Tan Sang; former Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam; Mr. Phan Van Mai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; and 426 delegates representing all walks of life in Ho Chi Minh City.

Praising the achievements of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front, Chairman Do Van Chien assessed that in the past term, the Vietnam Fatherland Front from the city to districts, communes and wards closely followed its functions and tasks, strived to achieve positive results; basically completed the goals and tasks set by the 11th City Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress.
The Chairman emphasized that the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city has promoted the spirit of great solidarity, creativity, and affection of all classes of people, steadfastly fought and overcame the Covid-19 pandemic, minimizing the damage caused by the disease.
The head of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said that the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front has done a good job of gathering people from all walks of life; sincerely listening to people, speaking so that people understand, making people believe, truly being a solid bridge between the Party, the State and the people. Doing a good job of playing the core political role, promoting the people's mastery to participate in building a strong Party and State government.
According to Chairman Do Van Chien, along with the good implementation of the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas" and the movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" launched by the Central Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City has proactively proposed many revolutionary movements and actions of the people such as: The movement of joining hands "For the homeland's sea and islands, for the frontline of the Fatherland"; the model "Each Front base is associated with a border area"; the campaign "Ho Chi Minh City residents do not litter on the streets and canals for a clean city and to reduce flooding"...
"The results of the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the city during the past term have contributed significantly to fostering the tradition of great solidarity among all classes of people; contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City to become increasingly prosperous and beautiful," Chairman Do Van Chien expressed.
Referring to the direction and goals of the 12th Congress term, Mr. Do Van Chien suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Front should focus on key activities such as: It is necessary to further promote the study and implementation of Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated November 24, 2023 of the 13th Party Central Committee on "Continuing to promote the tradition and strength of great national unity, building our country to be increasingly prosperous and happy". Innovating thinking and working methods, enhancing the application of information technology, adapting to the digital society to propagate and mobilize people in the direction of the whole people, comprehensively, with focus, key points, close to reality at the grassroots level; improving the substance of campaigns and patriotic emulation movements, with the motto: think honestly, speak honestly, do honestly, get real results and the people benefit truly.
At the same time, thoroughly grasp Ho Chi Minh's thought and the Party's consistent viewpoint that "People are the root", people are the subject, the center, all mechanisms and policies are for the people's lives. Therefore, it is necessary to promote more strongly the people's mastery, to implement the Party's policy: People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people benefit; improve the substance of supervision, social criticism, and contribute ideas to build a clean and strong Party and State; actively participate in preventing and combating corruption and negativity.
“If we want to innovate our thinking and working methods, and improve the results and quality of our work... then cadres are the decisive factor. Therefore, in this term, we must be highly determined and work together to promote the training and development of cadres in the mass mobilization system in general and the Fatherland Front in particular,” Chairman Do Van Chien advised.
The Chairman believes that if we are highly determined and effectively implement the projects, the quality of cadres and the effectiveness of the work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in Ho Chi Minh City will have remarkable developments. Innovation in content and methods of operation
Reporting on the outstanding activities of the past term, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all city levels and its member organizations have innovated the content and methods of operation, suitable to the practical situation, thanks to which they have achieved practical results.
In particular, in the 2019-2024 term, the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front system witnessed a huge challenge, which was the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused a lot of loss and pain. In the face of this difficulty, many Front officials did not fear danger and hardship, standing shoulder to shoulder with the people, helping them overcome this unprecedented terrible moment. According to statistics from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the city mobilized and received more than 5,908 billion VND, of which nearly 1,238 billion VND in cash, nearly 3,191 billion VND in medical equipment, more than 339 billion VND in goods, and nearly 319 billion VND in funding for purchasing Covid-19 vaccines. Thanks to the mobilized funds, the city has promptly taken care of thousands of billions of VND for the people, including over 2.7 million social security bags with an amount of more than 821 billion VND...
At the first conference of the 12th term Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, delegates consulted 141 members to join the City Fatherland Front Committee for the 2024 - 2029 term. At the same time, the Congress consulted the Chairman, Vice Chairmen and Standing Members. Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc continued to be elected by the Congress as Chairman of the 12th term Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; 4 Vice Chairmen, including Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Ngo Thanh Son, Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, Pham Minh Tuan; the position of non-professional Vice Chairmen, including Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong; Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong; Venerable Thich Le Trang; Priest Dam Minh Dinh Ngoc Le; Professor, Doctor Nguyen Van Phuoc; Associate Professor, Doctor Phan Thanh Binh, Tran Huu Phuoc. Standing members, including Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Le Huong, Hoang Mai Quynh Hoa, Le Nguyen Hong Quang, Duong Thi Huyen Tram, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Thach Nghi Xuan.
The Congress also consulted to elect 20 official delegates and 3 alternate delegates to attend the upcoming National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President for its outstanding achievements in the past term.
