Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training highly appreciates the proactiveness of localities. However, to ensure the stability of students' and parents' psychology and not affect the activities of the education sector, the high school graduation exam schedule this year remains unchanged.
Thus, the 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26-27.

2025 is the year when the first batch of students following the new general education program will take the high school graduation exam. Candidates will take the exam in 4 subjects instead of 6 as before. The two compulsory subjects are Math and Literature; the two optional subjects are Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economics and Law Education, Information Technology, Technology and Foreign Languages (English, German, Russian, Japanese, French, Chinese, Korean). This is the first time that Information Technology and Technology (Industry, Agriculture) have become graduation exams.
With the number of exams and the way to choose this subject, candidates have 36 combinations to choose from.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training proposed adjusting the time to organize the high school graduation exam to June 7-10 (3 weeks earlier than the original schedule - June 26-27).
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training believes that in the context of the whole country implementing the arrangement and merger of provinces and cities and the completion of district-level tasks according to the Conclusion of the Politburo and the Secretariat, it is necessary to adjust the exam schedule. This helps ensure the rights of students, stabilize the psychology of parents and students, and at the same time facilitate the preparation work of localities to organize the exam safely, seriously and in accordance with regulations.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training calculated that adjusting the 2025 high school graduation exam schedule to early June will not affect candidates, because at this time students have finished the school year and are reviewing to prepare for the exam.
Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Director of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, also said that the Department proposed to adjust the exam schedule because if the exam took place at the end of June, it is likely that the provinces and cities would not have time to form a merger of the apparatus, all preparations for the exam would be rushed, confusing, and difficult to ensure the organization of the exam would be safe and serious.
