Prioritize promoting dragon fruit
Early last February, Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association attended the Fruit Logistica Berlin Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition in Germany.
According to the representative of Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association, through the fair, Binh Thuan has more opportunities to find and strengthen relationships with customers in Europe. From there, it helps Binh Thuan dragon fruit develop more in this "difficult" market.
Known as the land of dragon fruit, in recent years, Binh Thuan has actively promoted the image of dragon fruit and expanded the consumption market.

In 2024 alone, the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Thuan assigned the provincial Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion (Center) to deploy a number of contents for promoting and promoting the export of dragon fruit products.
Specifically, support for Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association and a number of member enterprises to participate in Asia Fruit Logistica 2024; Private Label Show 2024 International Fair; Vietnam - China International Trade and Tourism Fair (Lang Son 2024); Cao Bang (Vietnam) - Bach Sac (China) International Trade Fair.
According to statistics, Binh Thuan currently has nearly 27,000 hectares of dragon fruit. Dragon fruit products are exported to countries such as the US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, India... and mainly China.
Binh Thuan dragon fruit has been granted geographical indication in Japan. Up to now, the image and trademark "Binh Thuan DRAGON FRUIT" has been registered and agreed to be protected by 13 countries and territories, such as: United States, England, Germany, France, Netherlands, Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand.
The granting of geographical indication registration affirms the reputation of Binh Thuan dragon fruit, opening up many new opportunities for exporting and consuming Binh Thuan dragon fruit in many different markets.
Achieving this result, in addition to promotional efforts through trade promotion activities, must also mention the efforts to develop high-tech, closed dragon fruit farm models, with water-saving irrigation technology that has appeared in Binh Thuan, a number of dragon fruit cooperatives have also been formed, creating a chain of links in production...
Expand recognition to many other products
Besides its signature product, dragon fruit, in recent years, Binh Thuan has also organized many activities to promote consumption and build brands for many other products of the province.
According to information from the Center, in 2024 alone, the unit completed 4 contents and local trade promotion programs with a budget of over 1.4 billion VND.

The Center has successfully organized the Exhibition Week of typical products, OCOP products of Binh Thuan province in 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City; Vietnamese goods fair from production areas to mountainous areas, remote areas, ethnic minority areas and islands of Binh Thuan province in 2024; Vietnamese goods fair to islands of Phu Quy district, mountainous districts of Tuy Phong and Tanh Linh.
The Center also coordinates to participate in agricultural, farmer and rural trade fairs; conferences, cooperation programs, connecting supply and demand between Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces; organizing trade promotion delegations to Laos; organizing exhibition spaces, introducing typical products and services, projects, and outstanding achievements of Binh Thuan province...
It can be seen that trade promotion activities have been helping Binh Thuan's strong products become more and more "popular" in the domestic market and become a reliable source of goods in the import-export market. Efforts in implementing this work have helped promote the province's export of goods.
However, most of the enterprises, cooperatives and production establishments in the province are small, have little capital, low competitiveness, and limited funding for trade promotion activities, so their participation in trade promotion programs, especially international fairs and exhibitions held domestically to promote brands, introduce products, find customers and distribution channels to develop foreign markets is still limited.
Enterprises participate in the fair by sending products for display; documents, brochures, and leaflets to promote and introduce products provided by enterprises are not many, especially bilingual documents and brochures in foreign languages. Therefore, direct exchange, introduction, and provision of information to foreign customers and partners is still limited.
To overcome this difficulty and increase the effectiveness of trade promotion, in addition to prioritizing resources, Binh Thuan actively socializes, encourages potential businesses to participate, and is more flexible in trade promotion methods.
Regarding the 2025 trade promotion program, the Department of Industry and Trade has just announced that Binh Thuan will participate in many important events such as: Agricultural, Farmers and Rural Trade Festival Fair; Southeast Regional Industry and Trade Exhibition Fair in 2025; Conference, cooperation program, connecting supply and demand between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in 2025...
The Department of Industry and Trade also requested relevant departments, localities and units to coordinate in informing businesses and cooperatives in the province to know and actively register to participate in order to promote the effectiveness of the program.
In 2024, the export value of dragon fruit of Binh Thuan province is estimated at 9.2 million USD, reaching 8,400 tons, an increase of 13.46% over the same period in 2023. |
