Strengthening technical solutions to increase coverage of official information
Assessing the role of the press on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024), delegate Vu Ngoc Long (National Assembly Delegation of Binh Phuoc province) said that the role of the press in socio-economic development in general and parliamentary activities in particular is extremely important.
During the period of the 4th Industrial Revolution, with the strong development of digital platforms and the growing interest of voters and people, the particularly important role of the press, especially important and official channels, through which voters and people can see social activities accurately and in the right direction, is clearly shown.

However, delegate Long also said that, besides the achievements, the negative side of technology also causes the press to face many problems, such as the problem of fake news.
To promote the role of mainstream press in the digital age, delegates said it is necessary to strengthen technical solutions to increase the intensity and level of mainstream information on platforms, thereby helping voters access mainstream information more easily.
Affirming that official information is very important, the delegate also said that information reflection also needs to be diverse and multi-dimensional, following an objective and scientific approach.
"Voters and people have very wide access, but if the press only has one-way information, it will not be able to meet the demand and will reduce the quality and prestige of the mainstream press in terms of people's views and approaches," said delegate Long.

Also appreciating the role of the press, delegate Hoang Van Cuong (Hanoi) said that the press is a bridge between the State, businesses and society, thereby playing an important role in criticizing State policies, creating a favorable investment environment for business development, and at the same time connecting the social community to stimulate consumption and create output for products.
According to delegate Cuong, the press discovers and honors typical examples and models of effective production and business, good governance. At the same time, the press also discovers, warns, and criticizes wrongdoings, violations of the law, and acts that are not for the community of some businesses.
The Hanoi delegation said that in the current context, the competitiveness of press agencies is being greatly affected by the rapid development of social networks. Therefore, people and businesses are in great need of official information and reliable opinions provided by reputable press agencies.
“If readers trust, the mainstream press can confidently fulfill its missions well, and that will also help create advantages for the press, helping the press turn readers' trust into its own development resource,” delegate Cuong emphasized.
Build your own appeal for journalism

Appreciating the positive relationship between the press, the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies, delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga (Hai Duong) said that the press agencies have promptly, promptly, fully and comprehensively informed voters about the activities of the National Assembly as well as of National Assembly deputies.
Through information from the press, National Assembly deputies also grasp the issues happening in daily life, hot issues, issues of special interest to voters and public opinion. From there, National Assembly deputies will have a voice in the parliament in policy making, building and amending institutions.
Many issues reported by the press were promptly raised by National Assembly deputies on the floor and requested that competent authorities have solutions to resolve outstanding issues that cause difficulties and frustrations in people's lives.
According to the Russian delegate, in the current era of Industry 4.0, the press is facing challenges from strong competition from social networks in both the function of providing early and quick information and the function of orienting public opinion.
“Many times people often look for information on social networks more than information in the press, especially information that is contradictory and has many comments. So how can the press guide public opinion information?”, the delegate raised the issue.
According to the female delegate from Hai Duong, the key is that the press must be really quick and must build its own appeal to be able to orient public opinion and not follow public opinion.

Believing that the role of press and media agencies is currently very important in bringing fast, honest, and objective news to a wide range of readers, delegate Pham Van Hoa (Dong Thap) also raised an issue that arises for the press during their work, which is unexpected factors such as lack of protection, or cases where journalists are threatened, assaulted, or obstructed from working...
According to the delegate, this is an isolated negative phenomenon that requires measures to overcome and strictly handle these cases.
The delegate said that there are currently specific regulations on what the press is allowed and not allowed to do, as well as regulations that agencies, units, localities and people must have the responsibility to cooperate and protect the press when it performs its duties and responsibilities.
Emphasizing that these regulations are very necessary, delegate Hoa also expressed his hope that in order to prevent unfortunate events from happening to the press, the implementation of the regulations must be ensured.
“I propose that the press must act in accordance with the regulations regarding their responsibilities, duties, and powers, and that information must be truly objective and truthful regarding the issues raised by voters. The responsibility of law enforcement agencies is to protect the press when they work at all times and in all places, as long as they comply with the provisions of the law,” delegate Hoa stated.
