Secretary Nguyen Van Nen asked Thu Duc City to prepare the "lineup" for the next term.

On the morning of July 11, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, attended and gave a speech at the 24th Conference of the Thu Duc City Party Committee. The meeting aimed to assess the socio-economic development situation in the first 6 months of the year, and orient tasks and solutions for the last 6 months of 2024.

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee recalled that Thu Duc City was established in 2021 and immediately had to overcome the great challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic. By 2022, the locality had to continue to overcome the consequences of the pandemic and in 2023, it would enter a period of creation for development.

Since the beginning of 2024, Thu Duc City has begun planning, calculating development strategies, and implementing new resolutions and directives. The head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that to achieve the current results, the entire political system, all classes of people, and businesses have promoted spirit, responsibility, and mobilized enthusiasm and intelligence.

"The outstanding result of Thu Duc City is the compliance and proactiveness in implementing the resolutions of superiors seriously, promptly, systematically, with programs, plans, assignments, arrangements and evaluations. In directing and operating development, there is also a focus, key points, with immediate, medium and long term", the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee assessed.

In addition to the economic aspect, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen commented that Thu Duc City's cultural and social activities also received great attention, which is something that not every place can do well. Typically, the cultural, artistic, environmental protection, and urban beautification movements of Thu Duc City have many developments, creating a spreading effect.

"People who come to the city send me pictures and videos of the places they see. There are even foreigners who send me pictures of riverside parks, flower gardens... These things all have the meaning of improving the quality and spiritual values ​​in people's lives," the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee recounted.

Assigning tasks to Thu Duc City for the remainder of 2024, Secretary Nguyen Van Nen emphasized the need to both handle the backlog and create for the future. In particular, the locality needs to research and review carefully to completely handle the backlog of Thu Thiem New Urban Area, High-Tech Park and a number of other issues.

To prepare for the next term, Thu Duc needs to prepare documents for the Party Congress that are specific, comprehensive and innovative. Regarding personnel work, Secretary Nguyen Van Nen suggested that Thu Duc City must gradually prepare a "team" and have a "team framework".

"We must select a team of worthy people to sit in those seats, operate and manage the work of Thu Duc City," the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee stated.
