Meanwhile, according to the latest announcement, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just decided to suspend the American International School from July 1. The Department said that the Department and the interdisciplinary working group worked with the investor and the American International School Council on May 28, requesting the investor and the School Council to submit a report to the Department of Education and Training before June 15.

After June 15, the Department of Education and Training has not received a report to determine whether the American International School is qualified to operate education according to the 2019 Education Law and Decree 46/2017/ND-CP.

Because the American International School does not meet the required conditions for operation, including financial resources and the number of educational management staff, the Department of Education and Training has decided to suspend the school's educational activities for a period of 12 months from July 1, 2024.

Also according to the Department of Education and Training, from April 2024 to the present, according to reports from educational institutions, there have been 134 cases of parents of American International School transferring schools for students. The Department has worked with 18 high schools with investment capital, teaching foreign programs to count the capacity to receive, support policies for students who need to transfer from American International School. All schools have the capacity to receive more students and provide information on many support policies on tuition, registration fees, etc.

For schools teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, the capacity to receive students in the 2024-2025 school year recorded at the time of the survey was 1,251 places, more than the number of students studying at the American International School.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also said that during the suspension period, if the cause of the suspension is resolved, the Department of Education and Training will consider and issue a decision to allow the school to resume educational activities.

In case the deadline expires and the American International School still fails to resolve the cause of the suspension, the Department will develop a plan and submit it to the Chairman of the City People's Committee to issue a decision to dissolve the school according to regulations.

The Department requires American International Education Corporation and American International School to be responsible for developing and implementing measures to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of students, teachers, managers and employees.
