The closing ceremony was attended by comrades: Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Tran Luu Quang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association. Also attending were leaders and former leaders of central and Ho Chi Minh City departments, ministries and branches; leaders of a number of provinces and cities and representatives of press agencies nationwide.
A unique cultural and spiritual gathering of journalists across the country
The 2024 National Press Festival was held in the South of the country, with the largest scale and stature ever. The National Press Festival attracted 120 booths displaying typical press publications, with the participation of 63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations, more than 300 central and local press agencies, and the largest journalism training institutions. Hundreds of press agencies, Journalists Associations at all levels, press training and management agencies gathered here, displaying and introducing images and outstanding, typical press products, advanced technology equipment, modern journalism techniques, and rich journalism training and development content. This is truly a unique cultural and spiritual convergence of journalists across the country.
This is also the first time that 64 OCOP product booths from provinces and centrally-run cities, along with the unique identities of each locality, have brought more richness and liveliness to the 2024 National Press Festival. This shows the attraction and role of the press and media in promoting regional economic development.
At the 2024 National Press Conference, the public and journalists - members will be able to participate in many high-quality events and professional activities such as: The first National Press Forum with 12 meetings, 10 discussion sessions, with more than 60 speakers who are experienced domestic journalists and prestigious international media experts.
The forums focus on hot and urgent topics that Vietnamese journalism theory and practice need to identify and find solutions for, such as: Enhancing Party spirit and orientation in journalism activities; Data journalism and outstanding content strategy; Competitiveness of television in the AI era; Dynamic broadcasting in the digital environment; Effective cooperation models between the press, businesses and advertising agencies, etc.
All of the above meaningful activities were broadcast live on Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Television; rebroadcast on dozens of radio and television stations in provinces and cities, and reported and written about by hundreds of press agencies of ministries, departments, branches and organizations.
Over the past 3 days, thousands of journalists and thousands of press audiences have come to the 2024 National Press Festival to view and enjoy outstanding press publications; audiences, readers, and radio listeners have participated in many sessions at the National Press Forum; and enjoyed exciting and attractive cultural, artistic, and sports activities.
Visitors to the Press Festival were delighted with the overview of contemporary Vietnamese journalism in the direction of professionalism - humanity - modernity, especially the thematic exhibition "Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism 1925-2024: 99 professional stories" by the Vietnam Press Museum, with the historical story of 99 years of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism telling about the dedication and sacrifice, labor and creativity of generations of journalists - soldiers. It is a profound lesson in traditional education, affecting the minds and hearts of journalists - members and visitors, a convincing proof of the achievements of the journalism that has transformed strongly, pioneered, and innovated for the cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, serving the people.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, comrade Nguyen Duc Loi - former member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association emphasized that the initiatives and innovations of this year's National Press Festival have received strong response from the press, attracting strong participation and interaction from agencies, organizations and people across the country.
The success of the National Press Association clearly demonstrates the results of the spirit of solidarity among press agencies, press management and leadership agencies; among all levels of the Journalists Association; between the press - businesses - the public; joining hands and unanimously promoting innovation in journalism, seizing opportunities, working together to overcome difficulties and challenges, towards a modern, professional, and humane press, aiming to serve the country and the people better and better.
Continue to promote digital transformation, apply modern technology
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged and highly appreciated the successes of the 2024 National Press Festival. The press festival has left a good impression on everyone, highlighting the professionalism, humanity and modernity of the Vietnamese revolutionary press. The message "Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovating for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and People" is clearly demonstrated through events, exhibitions, forums, etc., contributing to opening up new knowledge, while enhancing solidarity between press agencies and journalist associations, and strengthening the bond between the press and the public.
For the first time, the Vietnam Journalists Association organized a national press forum, discussing lively and practical press and media topics for journalists nationwide. The recommendations and proposals at the forum are an important basis for the leadership, management agencies, and associations to absorb, supplement, and submit to competent authorities to perfect the press policy mechanism. At the same time, this is also a valuable experience for press agencies to learn from, find solutions, and directions for themselves.
Promoting the achievements in the coming time, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia hopes that press agencies will focus on propagating the implementation of economic and social development tasks; closely following the breath of life, to contribute ideas, reflect, create and spread good and humane values in society; bring legal policies into life, meeting the expectations of all people.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized that press agencies need to continue promoting digital transformation, applying modern technology, focusing on investing in high-quality programs, news, articles, etc.; paying attention to Party building work, constantly fostering and improving political qualities, and educating revolutionary ethics for journalists.
Press agencies need to be more determined to build each press agency into a standard cultural agency. The head of the press agency must enhance his/her role and responsibility within his/her scope and authority, especially in implementing legal regulations on the press, especially in better implementing the principles and purposes. There must be strict management solutions, creating favorable conditions for the team of reporters and editors to operate in accordance with regulations. Strictly control the activities of representative offices, resident reporters, and collaborators to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Press Law and other Vietnamese legal documents.
Regarding the Journalists Association, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia noted that it is necessary to promote emulation in building cultural press agencies and journalistic culture; handle violations of professional ethics regulations of journalists; strengthen monitoring, supervision, inspection, conclusion and handling of violations of professional ethics and rules on using social networks of Vietnamese journalists.
In addition, the association at all levels continues to innovate, strengthen the organization of workshops, and foster training in modern journalism skills and methods of journalism in the digital environment.
Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia also reminded journalists to be more aware of their role, position, function, task and noble mission in the Vietnamese revolutionary press. Constantly cultivate political qualities, professional ethics, professional qualifications, technical skills, and cultivate virtue and talent to have “bright eyes, pure hearts, and sharp pens”, worthy of being pioneers on the cultural and ideological front of the Party, State and the People.
