On the morning of July 24, in Tay Ninh, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, received a delegation of the Cambodian Veterans Association led by Senior General Kun Kim, member of the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, Senior Minister, First Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Response Committee, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Cambodian Veterans Association.
Also attending were comrades: Nguyen Thanh Tam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives of the Departments and specialized units of the Central Propaganda Department and provincial leaders; leaders of departments, branches and sectors in Tay Ninh province.
At the reception, delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his pride in the tradition of solidarity, cooperation and mutual assistance between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia throughout the history of national liberation struggles as well as in the current construction and development of each country.
Among them, there was a great contribution from the veteran team, who fought side by side for the common goal of national liberation, regaining independence and freedom for the country. The harmonious coordination and solidarity in fighting between the two countries contributed to creating decisive victories, creating a favorable turning point for the revolution in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the active coordination of the Cambodian side in the search and recovery of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia; the attention and facilitation of the Cambodian Government in resolving the issue of legal status for people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia; and the support and removal of difficulties and obstacles for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Cambodia.
He affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to the traditional, united and close relationship between the two countries and always gives priority to strengthening and developing relations with Cambodia. Vietnam will do its utmost to work with Cambodia to preserve, protect and continuously foster the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship to develop more deeply, practically and effectively in all fields.
General Kun Kim thanked the Central Propaganda Department and Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the warm and friendly reception for the delegation of the Cambodian Veterans Association. The General expressed his respect and offered his deepest condolences and sympathy for the pain and loss of the Party, State and people of Vietnam when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away.
Recalling the years of fighting to liberate Cambodia, General Kun Kim said that Cambodia always remembers and is grateful for the coordination and assistance of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and Cambodian soldiers and people in fighting and liberating the country from the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
The two sides agreed to create conditions for the veterans' associations of the two countries to have more frequent exchanges and activities, in order to strengthen solidarity and cohesion, and contribute more to the development of the two countries in the new period.

On the same morning, the delegation of the Cambodian Veterans Association attended activities commemorating the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024), including the visitation, memorial service, and burial of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia and were brought back to Vietnam in the second batch, phase XXIII (dry season 2023 - 2024) at the Hill 82 Martyrs Cemetery; the ceremony to receive the certificate of ranking as a National Historical Relic of the Central Propaganda Department of the Southern Region (1962 - 1975).
