On August 1, Donald Trump's campaign said it raised $138.7 million in July, the month the Republican presidential candidate survived an assassination attempt.
Donations to Mr. Trump's campaign in July increased 24% compared to the $111.8 million raised in June. The former President's campaign fund now has $327 million.
Previously, on July 2, Mr. Trump's campaign said it had raised $331 million in the second quarter, surpassing the $264 million raised by then-Democratic candidate and incumbent President Joe Biden in the same period.
The attempted assassination of Mr. Trump on July 13 at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, is believed to have contributed to boosting contributions to the Republican candidate's fundraising campaign.
Meanwhile, the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, who is likely to be the Democratic Party's nominee in the upcoming presidential election, has not yet announced the total amount of money raised in July. However, Ms. Harris's campaign team said on July 28 that it had raised $200 million and recruited 170,000 new volunteers in the first week since she was nominated by Mr. Biden as the Democratic presidential candidate.
Polls over the past week have shown Harris closing the gap with Trump, but the former president still leads in some national surveys. Concerned about Harris’s rapid rise, Trump’s campaign announced on July 29 that it would spend $10 million on advertising, its biggest since January.
