Kamala Harris' presidential campaign is reaching out to Asian American voters with a new ad targeting battleground states that features the story of her mother, Dr. Shyamala Gopalan Harris.
Inspired by her mother The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, has released a new ad titled “My Mother.” In it, Harris talks about her commitment to service through the story of her Asian-American mother. The one-minute ad is inspired by Harris’s speech at the Democratic National Convention and pays tribute to her mother and highlights the candidate’s commitment to her journey from the courthouse to the White House. In the ad, Harris describes her mother as a smart, brown woman who stands 5 feet 11 inches and speaks English with an accent. “She taught us never to complain about injustice, but to do something about it,” Harris said. 
In a post on her official Facebook page, Harris said her mother, Dr. Shyamala Gopalan Harris, came to the United States alone from India when she was 19. “Her dedication, determination, and courage shaped who I am today,” Harris wrote of her mother, who she said researched breast cancer and raised her and two other daughters. This is the third ad the Harris-Walz campaign has released targeting the Asian American community, which is considered a key voting bloc in the US presidential election. Asian Americans are the fastest-growing voting group in the past two decades and since 2020, according to statistics from the Pew Research Center. This shows that the number of Asian voters has increased by 15%, equivalent to about 2 million eligible voters, in the past four years. 34% of registered Asian American voters are Republicans or lean Republican, and 62% are Democrats or lean Democratic. The campaign previously released two ads titled “Reduced,” which attacked Harris’s opponent, Donald Trump, on health care policy. The other ad, “The Seal,” highlights Harris’ work with the Asian American community and Trump’s actions during the Covid-19 pandemic. Trump has repeatedly tried to repeal Obamacare. He once called Covid-19 “kung flu,” which was considered a racist term against Asians during the pandemic. 
American TV queen Oprah Winfrey supports Ms. Harris On September 19, the event called "Unite for America" co-organized by famous host Oprah Winfrey and the volunteer network "Win with Black Women" took place in Detroit, Michigan. The event aimed to encourage people to register to vote and support Vice President Kamala Harris in key states that could decide the outcome of the race on November 5. The event also had the participation of famous stars such as comedians Chris Rock and Ben Stiller, along with stars: Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Bryan Cranston. At the event, Ms. Harris pledged to restore abortion rights that were affected by the Supreme Court's decision in 2022. She then talked about the main points of her campaign, from the economy to immigration and gun control. The audience also told stories about their experiences, many of whom were moved to tears. 
Winfrey has been a vocal supporter of Harris in the race for the White House. Winfrey has heaped praise on Harris, who became the Democratic presidential nominee after President Biden withdrew from the race. A Quinnipiac poll released on September 18 showed that Vice President Kamala Harris is leading in all three key battleground states , known as the “blue wall” states: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Harris leads former President Donald Trump in Michigan by 50% to 45% among 905 likely voters surveyed. If those numbers hold, Harris would surpass President Joe Biden, who won Michigan by about 150,000 votes in 2020. In Pennsylvania, which has 19 electoral votes, Harris is in the strongest position of any poll this cycle. She leads Trump 51% to 45% among 1,334 likely voters surveyed. In Wisconsin, which has 10 electoral votes, Harris leads Trump by a narrow margin of 48% to 47% among 1,075 likely voters. Voters in these three battlegrounds rank Trump as dominant on issues of the economy and immigration while defending democracy. Meanwhile, they rate the topics of abortion and crisis management as Harris's strengths. More than 100 former Republican officials say Trump is "not qualified" to return to the White House and endorse Kamala Harris. "We believe that the President of the United States must be a principled, serious, and steady leader. We may disagree with Ms. Harris on many domestic and foreign policy issues, but we believe that Ms. Harris possesses the necessary qualities to be President, while Donald Trump does not. Therefore, we endorse Ms. Harris to become President," the statement said in the letter from former Republican national security and foreign policy officials. While billionaire Elon Musk announced his support for Mr. Trump, most of the employees at the richest person on the planet's companies donated to Ms. Harris. Specifically, employees at Tesla contributed $ 42,824 to Ms. Harris's campaign, higher than the $ 24,840 to Mr. Trump's campaign. Employees at the aerospace corporation SpaceX donated $ 34,526 to Ms. Harris compared to $ 7,652 to Mr. Trump. Meanwhile, employees of social network X donated $13,213 to Ms. Harris, compared to less than $500 for candidate Donald Trump.
