On January 11, a source from VietNamNet reported that the Investigation Security Agency of Hau Giang Province Police had initiated a case and temporarily detained Mr. Tran Van Thang (former Vice Chairman of Phung Hiep District People's Committee); Mr. Tran Khong Dan (Vice Chairman of Phung Hiep District People's Committee) and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dien (Deputy Director of Land Fund Development of Phung Hiep District) to investigate the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties".

These people are involved in violations that occurred at the flood-proof residential area of ​​Cay Duong town (Phung Hiep district).

According to the police, from 2011 to 2015, the defendants Tran Van Thang, Tran Khong Dan and Nguyen Thanh Dien, who were the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council for reviewing households for flood-proof residential areas in Phung Hiep district, committed many violations in reviewing and granting households for flood-proof residential areas in Cay Duong town, leading to the incorrect granting of 69 cases, causing a loss of more than 3.5 billion VND.

Also today, the Investigation Security Agency of Hau Giang Provincial Police executed a search warrant at the workplace and residence of the above-mentioned suspects.

The case is currently under investigation.

Dismissal of Deputy Chief Inspector of Hau Giang Province Mr. Tang Minh Them, Deputy Chief Inspector of Hau Giang Province, was previously dismissed from the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Inspectorate Party Cell for the 2020-2025 term.
