Quang Ninh has more than 600 relics - scenic spots along with hundreds of intangible cultural heritages containing many great values. Focusing on the work of preserving, embellishing and promoting the value of heritages according to regulations and associated with the development of local tourism and services, in recent years, many heritages have been invested in on a large scale, creating beautiful landscapes, attracting tourists...

In 2024, according to statistics from the provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the number of visitors to historical and cultural relics, scenic spots and festivals in the area reached 8.5 million, exceeding the plan by 1.5 million (21.4%). This is a very encouraging number, contributing significantly to the number of 19 million visitors to Quang Ninh this year.

Quang Ninh attracts 8.5 million people to visit historical and cultural relics, scenic spots and festivals in the area in 2024.

2024 also marks an important stage in completing the content of the scientific dossier "The Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac" to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site. Last August, Quang Ninh hosted experts sent by UNESCO to conduct field assessments at the heritage sites in the complex in the province and was highly appreciated in many aspects.

In preparation for this event, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh Province coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces and the consulting unit to build a dossier and organize a conference to disseminate in-depth information about the Yen Tu Heritage Complex to a wide range of management agencies at all levels, experts, scientists, Buddhist Sangha, businesses, and local communities of the three provinces, contributing significantly to the work of welcoming the UNESCO expert delegation.

After that, the unit continued to coordinate in editing and supplementing the dossier according to the appraisal opinions of UNESCO experts, contributing to the successful dialogue at the expert level between Vietnam and ICOMOS experts at the end of November and preparing for the organization of a delegation to go abroad to protect the dossier at the UNESCO World Heritage Committee Session, scheduled for mid-2025.

In addition, in 2024, the cultural sector of Quang Ninh has implemented many other tasks and achieved positive results. In October 2023, Quang Ninh was recognized by the Prime Minister as two more special national relics, namely the architectural and artistic relic of Tra Co communal house and Van Don commercial port. And at the beginning of 2024, the sector coordinated with other sectors and localities to organize the announcement of the decision and receive the certificate of recognition as a special national relic for the Tra Co communal house relic...

The Vietnam - China border marker artifacts were collected by Quang Ninh Museum and are preparing to apply for recognition as National Treasures.

In addition, the sector has also guided the work of planning and planning for the Van Don Commercial Port relics, Tra Co communal house, Bai Tho Mountain scenic area, and King Le Thai To temple. Advised the Provincial People's Committee to establish 3 relic plans and approved 2 projects for restoration, embellishment, and promotion of relic values; decided and selected investors to establish 2 relic restoration projects and some contents on relics and heritages, specifically: Policy on implementing boundary markers on the field for ranked relics in Ha Long city; assigned the People's Committee of Cam Pha city to develop the task of establishing a relic plan and establishing a plan for the National Special Historical Relic of Cua Ong Temple; advised the Provincial People's Committee on the repair of Cua Van Floating Cultural Center on Ha Long Bay. Participated in giving opinions on 22 plans and projects for preserving, embellishing, and restoring relics...

For affiliated units such as Quang Ninh Museum, the Department has directed the unit to coordinate in carrying out excavation reports of Ham Long relics (Ha Long city), Bai Bang site (Dong Trieu), classifying and adjusting excavated artifacts of Xich Tho relics (Thong Nhat, Ha Long city), researching and surveying archaeological sites in Ha Long Bay. Especially, surveying and collecting information on artifacts of Vietnam - China border markers according to the 1887 French - Qing Treaty in the province, serving the work of making dossiers to propose recognition of National Treasures for these artifacts. Surveying the current status, preparing a cross-sectional dossier to request agreement on the national ranking of Ba Vung archaeological site (Van Don district); Thien Long Uyen relic (Dong Trieu); preparing scientific dossiers to include in the List of Yen Sinh pagoda and Bai Bang pagoda relics (Dong Trieu).

The Dao Thanh Y's initiation ceremony is recreated in the Nuong Village Festival in Yen Tu, serving tourists.

There have also been many improvements in the field of intangible cultural heritage. In early December, Quang Ninh had 3 more national intangible cultural heritages recognized, including: Wind Abstinence Custom of the Dao people in Dong Van commune, Binh Lieu district; Cap Sac Ceremony of the Dao Thanh Y people in Ha Long city, Uong Bi, Cam Pha, Mong Cai, Van Don, Ba Che, Binh Lieu, Tien Yen, Dam Ha, Hai Ha districts; New Rice Celebration Ceremony of the Tay people in Ha Long city, Cam Pha, Dong Trieu, Binh Lieu, Tien Yen, Ba Che, Hai Ha, Dam Ha districts. Thereby, the number of national intangible cultural heritages of the province has increased to 15.

Currently, the industry has surveyed and is completing scientific documents to continue proposing to include in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List 4 heritages of Quang Ninh, including: Traditional costumes of the Dao Thanh Phan ethnic group, Traditional costumes of the San Chi ethnic group, Season-praying ceremony of the San Chi ethnic group in Quang Ninh province and Couple singing, love singing in the coastal areas of Quang Ninh province.

In 2025, along with regular tasks, the sector will continue to implement the Project to strengthen festival management in Quang Ninh province in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030; Project to preserve, restore and promote the value of the system of historical and cultural relics and scenic spots in Quang Ninh province in the period of 2021-2030. These are important legal bases for doing a good job of preserving and promoting the value of Quang Ninh's heritages in the next period.
