This event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023), the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union (1930 - 2023) and the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Women's Newspaper (1948 - 2023).
Attending the program were Ms. Ha Thi Nga - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Mr. Yamada Takio - Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa - former Member of the Party Central Committee, former President of the Vietnam Women's Union, President of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights; Ms. Bui Thi Hoa - President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society; Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Huong, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang - President of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Rural Industries in Vietnam... Especially, there was the presence of nearly 300 children who are orphans, children with disabilities due to traffic accidents, children in especially difficult circumstances, representing more than 280 children and 10 SOS children's houses/villages in 55 provinces and cities across the country.
At the program, Meritorious Artist Xuan Bac and MC Luong Giang interacted and shared with guests, children and people present at the walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake so that everyone could better understand the Mottainai program organized by Vietnam Women's Newspaper and, together with the Organizing Committee, spread the spirit of charity "Giving love - Receiving happiness" as well as honoring the green lifestyle, the spirit of saving and avoiding waste.
The 10-year journey of the Mottainai Program organized by the Vietnam Women's Newspaper has connected kind and loving hearts together to raise the Mottainai fund "Give love - Receive happiness" to help children in difficult circumstances and less fortunate in life.
After 9 seasons, the Mottainai Program of the Vietnam Women's Newspaper has become the largest program in Vietnam to donate used goods for humanitarian purposes, honoring the Green lifestyle; attracting more than 500,000 participants, benefiting nearly 6,000 disadvantaged children. The program has received a Certificate of Merit from the Embassy of Japan, and was awarded the Creative Women Award in 2017.
In Mottainai season 2023, the Program will award 283 scholarships to disadvantaged children across the country, each worth 3 million VND and gifts.
At the program, delegates, distinguished guests, and benefactors presented scholarships and gifts from the program to 47 orphans or direct victims of traffic accidents from 8 provinces/cities; and presented gifts to 10 open houses (each house received 30 million VND in cash and gifts).
For those who are unable to receive the scholarships in person, the Program will deliver the scholarships and gifts to them through local Women's Unions and the Central Press Distribution Company.
Many distinguished guests attending the Mottainai 2023 Program brought valuable, usable items to sell to raise funds for Mottainai to support children in difficult circumstances.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Ha Thi Nga - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union shared: "After this Festival, hopefully with the cooperation of the community, there will be another Mottainai Green Library opened at Hoang Ngan Secondary School, Diem Mac Commune, Dinh Hoa District, Thai Nguyen Province. Thanks to that, hundreds more ethnic minority children will benefit, while affirming the sustainability and strong spread of the program "Mottainai - Give love, receive happiness" initiated by the Vietnam Women's Newspaper. On behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam Women's Union, we highly appreciate the efforts of the Vietnam Women's Newspaper, ministries/departments/sectors, Women's Unions at all levels, collectives and individuals who have joined hands to organize the program.
I would like to sincerely thank the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam and Japanese friends - the homeland of the Mottainai program. Thank you to the kind-hearted people, Mottainai ambassadors, sponsors, volunteers and all of you... for your kindness and sharing through gifts, money, wishes, and kind moments for disadvantaged children. I wish the Program to contribute more voices and practical actions to build a Greener and More Loving future for all of us."
Within the framework of the Mottainai 2023 Program, many booths were also organized. Member of the Party Central Committee - President of the Vietnam Women's Union, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama... also visited the Mottainai Fair.
A highlight of the Mottainai Fair is the booth of famous Japanese paper folding artist, Mr. Kazuma Takahashi, President of the Japan Packaging Art Association. Artist Kazuma Takahashi said that right after hearing about the significance of the Mottainai Program from his Japanese friends living and working in Vietnam, he decided to participate in the program without hesitation. The Japanese artist has participated in the Mottainai Program of the Vietnam Women's Newspaper since 2016.
In the 10th Anniversary Ceremony of Mottainai, there were also 2 special art performances: Japanese singer Akari Nakatani - 1 of the 4 Ambassadors of the Program performed the song Hana wa saku - And the flowers will bloom; Beauty Queen Be Thi Bang danced with one leg to the song You raise me up performed by young violinist Pham An Phuc.
Previously, on the morning of October 21, the Mottainai Run with the theme Run for strong kids was held with the participation of more than 1,000 professional and amateur athletes. Participating in the race were many famous people: Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Minh Huong, Mottainai Ambassador 2023 - Meritorious Artist Xuan Bac and his son Bi Beo (Vo Nguyen), Mottainai Ambassador 2023 - Beauty Queen Be Thi Bang, actress Thanh Huong, MC - singer Kim Huyen Sam, actress Luong Giang, MC Manh Khang, actress Luu Huyen Trang and many beauty queens, runners-up... Taking on the role of MC of the program is Runner Nguyen Thuong Viet.
