On May 20, Hung Ha District Police (Thai Binh Province) announced that they had decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain Nguyen Van Khan (39 years old, residing in Hung Nhan Town, Hung Ha District) for the crime of "torturing others" according to the provisions of Article 140 of the 2015 Penal Code.
The above decisions have been approved by the People's Procuracy of the same level.
Being beaten so much caused B. to suffer multiple injuries.
The victim in the case is NGB (5 years old, son of defendant Nguyen Van Khan).
At the investigation agency, Nguyen Van Khan confessed that because he wanted to educate his child, he repeatedly used a bamboo stick, sandals, and clothes hangers to beat B., causing many injuries to the child's body.
On May 15, Khan came home from work and did not see B. at home, so he went looking for her and used a piece of dry bamboo about 60 cm long to hit her many times on her buttocks, calves, back and arms, causing many injuries.
B. was later discovered by relatives to have been abused and was taken to Hung Nhan General Hospital (Hung Ha District) for treatment due to multiple injuries.
According to the case file, in 2018, Khan lived as husband and wife with Ms. NTY (residing in Quoc Oai District, Hanoi) but did not register their marriage. After giving birth to B., Ms. Y. left, and her whereabouts are still unknown.
B. had a birth certificate issued by the People's Committee of Hoa Thach Commune, Quoc Oai District (Hanoi). However, the birth certificate does not show the identity of the child's biological father. Therefore, there is not enough legal basis to determine whether B. is Khan's biological or legally adopted child.
Hung Ha District Police collected DNA samples from Khan and B. for genetic testing to determine blood relationship.
It is known that Nguyen Van Khan has two previous convictions for theft and robbery.
The incident is being investigated and clarified by the authorities of Hung Ha District (Thai Binh).
