A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, sending tremors to Bangkok, Thailand, sending many people from high-rise buildings running into the streets.

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said she postponed an official visit to the southern island of Phuket to hold an emergency meeting following the earthquake, according to a post on X.
Thailand's prime minister said Bangkok has declared a state of emergency following the earthquake.
Some subway and rail services have been suspended in Bangkok. According to the Bangkok Post , residents of the capital Bangkok have evacuated many buildings, while businesses have announced temporary closures due to the earthquake.

Workers flee as building collapses
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred 16 km northwest of Sagaing city, Myanmar, at a depth of 10 km at around 12:50 on March 28 (local time).
"We have started searching around Yangon city to check for casualties and damage. So far, we have no information," an official from the Myanmar Fire Service Department told Reuters.
The earthquake's tremors were felt in Vietnam and China. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said it was closely monitoring the situation and would provide a detailed report soon.
