Many 4-5 star hotels in Ba Ria - Vung Tau are fully booked during Tet due to a sharp increase in the number of guests, even though prices are nearly double normal days.
Late afternoon of February 2 (the 5th day of Tet), the last day of the Lunar New Year 2025, according to the Department of Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the total number of visitors visiting, entertaining, and staying at hotels, tourist areas, and beaches in the province increased slightly compared to the same period in 2024.
The number of tourists swimming at the beaches in Ba Ria - Vung Tau was crowded until the 5th day of Tet.
Accordingly, from January 29 to February 2, the number of visitors to the province was about 773,523, an increase of 13.07% compared to the 2024 Tet holiday. Revenue reached more than 747 billion VND, an increase of 33.79%.
In Vung Tau city alone, from January 27 to February 2, an estimated 275,800 people went swimming. On February 2 alone (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), there were about 89,000 visitors, an increase of 14,000 visitors, equal to 118.6% compared to the same period last year.
According to the reporter's records, this year the number of guests is spread across many localities of Ba Ria - Vung Tau such as: Long Dat, Xuyen Moc, Vung Tau, Con Dao due to the long holiday. In particular, 4-5 star hotels and resorts are full, especially family rooms. Local hotel prices have increased by 20-40% compared to normal days. Budget hotels range from 600 - 1.5 million VND. High-end hotels cost from over 2 million to tens of millions of VND.
Many photographers also have high income during Tet by taking souvenir photos for families.
Unlike Vung Tau, this year in Xuyen Moc, 34 coastal resorts achieved an occupancy rate of over 85%. Tourism revenue in Xuyen Moc district also recorded a record increase of 277%.
As for Con Dao this year, due to rough sea weather, ships stopped carrying passengers to Con Dao, so the number of tourists to Con Dao on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year decreased by about 30.38% compared to the same period in 2024.
The number of vehicles from National Highway 51 to Vung Tau during Tet is very crowded.
Since January 30 (the second day of the Lunar New Year), the ferry route from Tran De to Con Dao has resumed operations and increased the number of trips transporting passengers to Con Dao, resulting in an increase in the number of visitors to Con Dao. However, the number of aircraft transporting passengers to Con Dao is limited, leading to difficulties in attracting visitors, especially visitors from the northern provinces and cities.
