According to PhoneArena , the ROG Phone 8 will be launched at an event organized by Asus on January 8 next year. In preparation for this event, the company has shared a glimpse of the product's design, showing that it will be a product with a new design.
Images of the camera system on ROG Phone 8 shared
The highlight of the shared image is a brand new camera system that is being deployed, however, the company has kept the camera specifications under wraps. In its sharing, Asus invites everyone to participate in the Blind Photo Test, comparing photos taken on phones from industry giants. Participants will have the chance to win a much-anticipated gaming smartphone.
While gaming smartphones often prioritize performance over camera quality, Asus promises to significantly upgrade the camera capabilities of the ROG Phone 8, revealing its new professional camera system. The previous two generations, the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 7, used the same hardware, but the ROG Phone 7 has tapped into the advanced technology of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to boost its performance.
For example, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, one of the best gaming phones available today, has a triple-camera system that includes a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP macro camera. While this setup is adequate for everyday use, it's not as advanced as the cameras on other high-end smartphones.
With the ROG Phone 8, Asus may be aiming to make its camera system more competitive with other smartphones in its price range, such as the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra which is said to feature a high-end camera system, or the Xperia 1 V which is also positioned as one of the best gaming smartphones. Asus needs to step up its game to compete.
In addition to the camera upgrade, the ROG Phone 8 is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, ensuring superior performance when gaming and other demanding tasks. Other details on the phone's specifications are still scarce, but we'll learn more in the coming weeks.
