A recent report suggests that Apple is considering bringing a major change to the next-generation Apple Watch SE model – a plastic design.
Currently, the Watch SE model is made of aluminum—quite similar to the higher-end Apple Watch models.

According to his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman says the next-generation Apple Watch SE could ditch the aluminum casing in favor of hard plastic. And it's likely to be the Apple Watch SE 3.
Previously, DigiTimes said that at least one next-generation Apple Watch model will start using copper-coated plastic. The application of this material will bring many benefits to the device's motherboard such as improving durability and water resistance. In addition, the motherboard will be thinner to provide more internal space for other components and sensors in the Apple Watch.
According to Mark Gurman, the hard plastic build of the device suggests that the SE 3 is perfectly suited for kids. The device will be introduced by Apple as a smartphone alternative for kids. And if that is the target audience for the next version of the Apple Watch SE, the plastic case could come in a variety of vibrant colors. Offering a special edition of the watch for kids is a cool and unique idea.
Apple is likely to introduce a third version of the Apple Watch SE next month with a new look and design. The use of a plastic case instead of an aluminum case will help reduce the price of the product. This could be part of a plan to reduce the price to under $200 to compete with some other rivals.
