These will likely be the final betas of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 before they are officially released to users next week.
iOS 18.2 RC is available to developers and public beta participants with build number 22C150. iOS 18.2 is available for iPhones capable of running iOS 18. However, Apple Intelligence features are limited to iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series.
Information from Apple has introduced some new features of iOS 18.2 such as:
Image Playground: allows users to use concepts, descriptions, and people from their photo library to create fun photos in a variety of styles. Images will be synced in the Image Playground library across all of the user's devices using iCloud.
- Genmoji: allows users to create emojis from the keyboard
- ChatGPT support: users can access ChatGPT from Siri or Writing Tools
- Camera Control: helps users instantly learn about locations or interact with information simply by pointing the iPhone at the subject, with the option to tap Google Search or ChatGPT and can open the Camera app even when the iPhone 16 screen is off.
- Mail: classified to help users know the importance of each email
- Photo: Videos in the Photo app can now play full screen without having to tap the screen first to zoom in and out.
New icons added for next-generation CarPlay.
Redesigned AirPlay icon.
ChatGPT icon in Writing Tools loses AI glow.
Additionally, the update also fixes the following bugs:
- Fixes an issue that caused recent photos to not appear immediately in the All Photos grid
- Fixes an issue where Night mode photos in the camera may be degraded when taking long exposures (iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max).
However, some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices. Users can learn about the security contents of the update by visiting https://support.apple.com/100100.
