According to Apple Insider , Apple is currently expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 9 this fall, but there are already rumors about the next generation model. The product, called the "Apple Watch X", is expected to bring major changes. This information was provided by expert Mark Gurman in the latest Power On newsletter on Bloomberg, when he claimed that the Apple Watch X will launch around 2024 or 2025.
Apple Watch X will be thinner thanks to magnetic strap design
Apple will be making some major changes to the product and it will be a major refresh instead of just the minor improvements the device has undergone in the past few years.
The big change could be how the bands attach to the body of the Apple Watch. Instead of slots, Gurman says a magnetic system is being planned. Sources familiar with the Apple Watch’s development say the existing slot system takes up a lot of space at either end of the body. This takes up a lot of internal space that could be used for other components, like a larger battery.
A slimmer overall design is also in the works, so changing the magnetic-based strap attachment system will benefit designers as they can stretch the available internal cavity, Gurman added.
Speaking of the Apple Watch Series 9, which Apple is expected to launch this fall, recent rumors indicate that the new product will mainly bring a performance change thanks to the appearance of the Apple S9 chip.
