Gratitude to the meritorious

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Khanh Hoa Province Liberation Day (April 2, 1975 - April 2, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), many activities have taken place in the province to honor people with revolutionary contributions. Following the working delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee to visit typical people with revolutionary contributions in the province, we felt the affection and care of the provincial leaders and the excitement of each family of the meritorious person. Visiting the family of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Minh (war invalid, Ninh Quang commune, Ninh Hoa town), Mr. Minh told us about his years of revolutionary activities, participating in the fight to liberate Khanh Hoa province and marching with the army to liberate Saigon. “Back then, we joined the revolution with all our hearts. Everyone held guns and fought bravely, not afraid of hardship and danger, hoping for the country to be liberated soon. Then everyone burst into joy on the great victory day in the spring of 1975, when the country was unified,” Mr. Minh shared. The country was at peace, returning to normal life, Mr. Minh worked hard and produced to build a new life. Now, although he is old and weak, he still has the spirit of Uncle Ho’s soldier, an exemplary model for the younger generation to follow.

At the families he visited, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan kindly asked about their health and living conditions, especially about the locality's attention to implementing policies for families of meritorious people. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan requested that all levels, sectors and localities continue to fully implement the policies and regimes of the Central and local governments and regularly visit, encourage and grasp the needs of meritorious people to care for and provide timely support.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan - a war invalid, a revolutionary activist who was imprisoned by the enemy (Dien Dien commune, Dien Khanh district) shared: “Every year, on holidays and Tet, provincial and local leaders come to visit and give us gifts to encourage us. In daily life, when we encounter difficulties, local leaders always wholeheartedly support us in a timely manner. Besides, my monthly allowance is fully implemented by the locality”. Mr. Tro Suong - a war invalid (Doc Trau village, Ba Cum Bac commune, Khanh Son district) said: “Not only ensuring the policies, the locality also supports my family with more than 80 million VND to build a new, spacious house. This is a meaningful gift to help my family stabilize their lives”…

Implement policies well

Mr. Huynh Manh Thang - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs said that, promoting the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", "Repaying gratitude", the Party Committee, government and people in the province always care about and look after the material and spiritual life of families of people with revolutionary contributions and consider this one of the important tasks. Currently, the province is managing more than 55,000 files of people with revolutionary contributions, of which 5,772 people receive monthly preferential allowances with a total cost of more than 16.7 billion VND. Every year, policies related to people with revolutionary contributions are implemented by localities in accordance with regulations. The settlement of files of people with revolutionary contributions is carried out seriously, with no backlog. The annual nursing regime is carefully implemented by localities, creating conditions for people with revolutionary contributions to improve their health, meet comrades, and revisit old battlefields.

In order to create more resources to care for people with meritorious services, every year, the whole province actively mobilizes contributions to build the "Repaying gratitude" Fund. From 2022 to the end of 2024, the whole province has mobilized more than 14 billion VND, of which the provincial level mobilized more than 6.9 billion VND and the district level more than 7.8 billion VND. From this amount, support has been provided to build and repair 82 gratitude houses for people with meritorious services to the revolution; visit and support people with meritorious services on holidays, Tet, and sudden illnesses. Along with that, units, localities, and enterprises always demonstrate their responsibility, organizing many gratitude activities in the forms such as: Receiving and caring for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; visiting, repairing, and embellishing martyrs' cemeteries; Visiting and giving gifts to people with revolutionary contributions on holidays and Tet... With such care and attention, currently, 100% of families of people with revolutionary contributions in the province have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average standard of living of local people. The whole province no longer has poor or near-poor households with members who have contributed to the revolution.

At the same time, the work of taking care of martyrs' graves and cemeteries, visiting, offering incense, flowers, moving martyrs' remains and identifying martyrs' remains is carried out regularly. Currently, the whole province has 126 works honoring martyrs, including 7 cemeteries, 42 memorials, 4 temples and 73 steles with martyrs' names. From 2019 to present, the province has invested in building, upgrading, renovating and repairing 72 works honoring martyrs, building 201 new martyrs' graves and repairing and upgrading 3,810 martyrs' graves with a total cost of more than 84 billion VND. The works are invested in spacious, clean, beautiful and solemn, becoming red addresses to commemorate and educate revolutionary traditions for generations.
