"An anti-terrorist operation has been launched in the town of Karabulak, in the Republic of Ingushetia, since 7:30 p.m. on March 2," the emergency response center in Russia's Ingushetia, located in the North Caucasus region, announced early on March 3.
The operation, which covered about four streets in Karabulak, was aimed at clearing out an extremist group that was “plotting to commit serious terrorist crimes” on Russian territory, according to Maxim Shevlyakov, head of the Federal Security Service (FSB) office in Ingushetia. The group had been wanted since early 2023 after an attack on a police officer.

Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, leader of the Republic of Ingushetia, stressed that the situation in the town of Karabulak is still under control and the city's residents do not need to panic.
