The grant will help purchase personal equipment and cover costs associated with strategic airlift operations to sustain Rwanda’s operations in Cabo Delgado.
This deployment began in July 2021 at the request of the Mozambican government, to support the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado.
Speaking at the conference, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said: “The presence of the Rwanda Defence Forces has played an important role in achieving progress in Mozambique and has become a key force, especially after the recent withdrawal of the Southern African Development Community Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM).”
The EPF was established in March 2021 to support the EU's external strategy on military or defence, with the aim of preventing conflicts, maintaining peace, and enhancing international security and stability.
