Speaking at the launch of the Trusted Artificial Intelligence Assessment Framework and Principles (ETAI) for Armed Forces, General Anil Chauhan noted that recent conflicts demonstrate the pivotal role of AI in warfare and the need to use this tool to respond to attacks from adversaries.
Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), said that reliability and effectiveness are essential factors to minimize the risk of failure during mission execution and avoid unintended consequences.
AI applications must be reliable, efficient, transparent and secure to ensure successful military operations, he stressed.
The ETAI framework is built on five key principles: trustworthiness and efficiency, safety and security, transparency, fairness, and privacy, providing comprehensive criteria for assessing the trustworthiness of AI.
Accompanying this framework, the ETAI principles outline specific measures to be applied throughout the AI development process, providing developers and users with a systematic approach to building and evaluating AI.
