Phong Chau Bridge crosses the Red River on National Highway 32C, connecting Phung Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District with Van Xuan Commune, Tam Nong District. Due to its important location, the bridge often has a lot of traffic. At 10:00 a.m. on September 9, the Phong Chau Bridge collapsed, causing serious damage to people and property, disrupting and blocking traffic, affecting the lives of many people in this area. Immediately after the incident, there were many noble gestures from the people of the Ancestral Land to those affected by the incident.
Notably, the family of Mr. Bui Van Da, Zone 4, Phung Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District, runs a passenger transport business by tourist bus, helping parents and schools pick up and drop off students studying in communes of Tam Nong District to Lam Thao District.
According to Mr. Da, because Phong Chau bridge has collapsed, the school bus will have to go in a detour, upstream of the Red River along the left dike along the river, cross Ngoc Thap bridge (Phu Tho town) and then continue along Ho Chi Minh road to schools in Tam Nong district. The estimated distance is over 30km. If the young students go by themselves, it will be very far and the road will be difficult to travel.
Mr. Da shared: “As a parent, I feel very worried when many students and their families have to find a way to take a detour when the Phong Chau bridge collapse happened. Therefore, my wife and I decided to use 3 family vehicles (45-seat and 34-seat vehicles) to pick up and drop off children in these two areas to bring them home so that parents can rest assured. Initially, I posted the article on social media, then contacted parents and teachers that I know and took pictures of the license plates and sent them to parents and students so that everyone knows. My family vehicle started picking up the children from noon today and will continue for a few days until parents have settled down to pick up and drop off their children at school.”
The meaningful action of Mr. Da's family was shared and quickly spread on social networks with thousands of likes, touching many people.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Hien - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phung Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District said: "The free pick-up and drop-off service of Mr. Bui Van Da's family is very humane, coming from the heart of love, to help the people of his hometown in difficult times. Beautiful actions like Mr. Da's family need to spread and be replicated more widely in the community".
Mr. Bui Van Da's post on social networks attracted many likes and shares.
Not only Mr. Da's family, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen Trang's family in Zone 6, Huong Non Commune, Tam Nong District, has two houses in Zone 5 and Zone 6, Huong Non Commune with many vacant rooms. She posted an article on social media, hoping to help those who have difficulty in daily commuting across the bridge and to her house to stay for free.
Ms. Trang said: “My family has 2 people, my husband, my children on the first floor, and there are many empty rooms on the 2 upper floors. Besides, I also have a house in Zone 5 that can accommodate about 10 people. I hope to be able to help my hometown in some way, providing accommodation for students and people working in Tam Nong who do not have a place to stay for free. By this afternoon, some parents in Lam Thao district have contacted me to let their children stay temporarily so that they can have the best learning conditions.”

It can be seen that in times of adversity and difficulty, people become closer to each other, ready to help even though they do not know each other. Kindness and seemingly small actions have demonstrated the solidarity, love and mutual support of the Ancestral Land people in particular and the Vietnamese people in general, becoming a source of inspiration and belief in the sacred value of sharing in life.
