According to Mr. Abu-Zeid, Foreign Minister Shoukry and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell will co-chair the meeting, with the participation of foreign ministers of EU member states.
Mr. Abu-Zeid assessed that the 10th meeting of the EU-Egypt Association Council is of particular importance, as it marks 20 years since the association agreement between Egypt and the EU came into force in 2004. The meeting will also review the implementation of the Egypt-European partnership agreement, as well as the benefits of the Egypt-EU Partnership Priorities 2021-2027 framework.
During his visit to Brussels, the Egyptian Foreign Minister will discuss with his EU counterparts ways to strengthen bilateral relations and review the progress of projects and joint programs between Egypt and the EU.
The two sides will exchange views on current crises in the region, in particular the Gaza Strip conflict, the situation in Sudan, Somalia and Libya, as well as concerns about security in the Red Sea.
Mr Shoukry is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with EU foreign ministers and commissioners on neighbourhood policy, economic issues, energy, migration, climate, humanitarian issues and crisis management.
The Egyptian foreign minister will also attend a meeting with Mr Borrell, as well as the foreign ministers of Jordan and Saudi Arabia to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the future of the Palestinian cause.
