Agribank builds culture into an endogenous source of strength

On March 26, 1988, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) issued Decree No. 53/ND-HDBT establishing specialized banks, including the Vietnam Bank for Agricultural Development - the predecessor of today's Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank).

    The process of building and developing Agribank is also the process of forming and developing a corporate culture rich in identity, cultivated by generations of cadres and employees, becoming an endogenous strength, promoting Agribank's development.

    Promoting the implementation of Agribank corporate culture

    Since its inception, with the mission of being associated with agriculture, farmers and rural areas, Agribank has proposed and initiated innovations in the State's credit mechanisms and policies applied in the field of "Agriculture", creating a unique mark and identity for Agribank in the credit financial market in Vietnam. Along with that, identifying the importance of corporate culture, Agribank has built and deployed a system of viewpoints on developing and implementing corporate culture throughout the system.

    A clear mark demonstrating Agribank's concern and strategy for developing corporate culture is the construction and completion of the "Cultural Handbook" based on the summary and inheritance of core values ​​from the identity and unique characteristics of Agribank's culture, guiding standards, behavior, communication, ethics and responsibilities of Agribank's officers and employees. The "Cultural Handbook" has helped all officers and employees voluntarily learn and practice Agribank's culture and transform it into daily behavior, making Agribank's culture continuously spread and truly become an endogenous source of strength to promote the bank's further development.

    By August 22, 2023, the Agribank Party Committee issued Action Program No. 28-CTr/DU-NHNo on implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/DUK, dated April 28, 2023 of the Central Enterprise Party Committee on "Strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels in building and implementing corporate culture in the Central Enterprise Party Committee". To effectively implement Action Program No. 28-CTr/DU-NHNo, the Agribank Party Committee continues to lead, direct and concretize it with thematic Resolution No. 26-NQ/DU-NHNo on "Strengthening leadership in developing corporate culture associated with building the image and brand of Agribank". In which, clearly defining the guiding viewpoints, goals, tasks, solutions and roadmap for building Agribank's human resources to develop comprehensively, as the center, subject, main resource and goal of Agribank's development. At the same time, arouse the spirit and desire to contribute of each individual and collective, building Agribank to develop sustainably.

    Up to now, Agribank has achieved unity in the perception and action of the entire system on the decisive role of corporate culture in its development strategy. Thereby building an Agribank that is "Close but professional, traditional but modern, consensual, united, disciplined, highly responsible to customers and the community". As a result, culture gradually permeates all activities, creating momentum for business activities, contributing to enhancing the reputation and brand value of Agribank.

    Exciting "Agribank Cultural Week 2025"

    Continuing the tradition throughout the 37 years of formation and development, at the same time concretizing action programs to build the image and brand of Agribank associated with social responsibility, welcoming the country's important events in 2025, Agribank organized "Agribank Cultural Week 2025" with many exciting and meaningful events.

    Among them is the "Green Transaction Point" movement launched on March 14, 2025. This is an activity that motivates branches throughout the system to work towards an environmentally friendly digital banking model and sustainable development. Key activities include: enhancing digital experiences for customers, encouraging cashless transactions; saving energy, reducing plastic waste, building green workspaces; raising awareness of ESG (Environment - Society - Governance), helping Agribank become a pioneer bank in sustainable development.

    Along with that is the “Agribank Moments” Photo Contest held from March 17, 2025. The contest is a meaningful playground for officers and employees throughout the system, aiming to record authentic, emotional images of Agribank's innovation and development journey. The contest is not only an opportunity to preserve memorable moments, but also contributes to spreading good values, reflecting the pioneering spirit, innovation and social responsibility of Agribank.

    One of the special highlights of “Agribank Cultural Week 2025” is the “Community Bookshelf” program. Following the success from 2024, “Community Bookshelf” continues to be implemented with the humane message “Whoever needs it, take it – Whoever has it, give it”, to spread the spirit of sharing, encourage reading culture and expand access to knowledge for the community. The program calls for the joint contributions of Agribank staff, employees and customers in donating books, building and maintaining bookshelfs at branches nationwide.
