On the evening of December 26, the National Traffic Safety Committee held the 12th Golden Steering Wheel Awards ceremony.

The Golden Steering Wheel is the only national award held annually. The award aims to recognize, commend and honor transportation businesses and drivers who have made significant contributions to ensuring traffic order and safety, thereby raising awareness and consciousness of the general public and drivers in particular in complying with traffic order and safety laws.

To achieve the 2024 Golden Steering Wheel award, drivers must meet many criteria such as: No traffic accidents during the year; No traffic accidents from serious to more serious (in 3 years: 2021, 2022, 2023); Strictly comply with legal regulations on traffic safety and order, not being handled by authorities for administrative violations in any form during the year.

At the same time, drivers must have noble actions and moral qualities (participating in rescuing traffic accident victims, helping passengers in special cases...), have prestige and influence among drivers, be exemplary and actively promote and mobilize colleagues, relatives and the community to comply with traffic safety laws.

Over 12 years of organization, 554 drivers representing hundreds of thousands of transport business drivers nationwide have won awards and 230 units representing tens of thousands of transport business units nationwide have won collective awards.

In 2024, the Organizing Committee received applications for the award from 43 transport businesses and 119 drivers nationwide. The award selection council unanimously selected 30 groups and 60 individuals to win the Golden Steering Wheel award; and awarded the Traffic Culture award to 15 groups and individuals.
