Accordingly, the only Vietnamese film participating in the Feature Film Competition category is Ngay Xua Co Mot Chuyen Tinh. The film was also selected to open HANIFF VII.
Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story revolves around the friendship and love story between two boys and a girl from childhood to adulthood, facing the challenges of fate. The three characters Vinh - Mien - Phuc fell in love together, awkwardly entered life, stumbled and experienced every turn in life. The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh, first published in 2016 and reprinted 20 times with different book cover versions to date. Vinh - Mien - Phuc went through a beautiful childhood together, awkwardly with the first sobs and emotions and faced every major turning point on the journey to adulthood. Along with that are the choices and turns to become better, happier, but also experienced loss and needed to think more. Although set in 1992 - 1997, Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story contains issues close to modern life.
