29 students in Quang Ninh suffer food poisoning after eating strange candy
Through inspection and screening, the school discovered that the students ate the same type of candy (the candy wrapper had foreign words and no Vietnamese label) at a grocery store on the street near the school gate.
A representative of the People's Committee of Binh Lieu District said that before the above incident, the authorities of Binh Lieu District were present at a resident's store in front of the gate of Hoanh Mo Secondary and High School to conduct inspection and verification.
At the time of inspection, the store only sold Vietnamese candy with full labels. In addition, the seller also admitted to selling a few packs of candy to students, purchased from an unidentified person who came to sell it.
Chinese candy used by students in Van Don caused nausea, dizziness and hospitalization
By the morning of November 29, the Binh Lieu District Market Management Team and the Binh Lieu District Police had worked with the school to verify more information to trace the origin of the goods; at the same time, instructed the school to send samples for quality inspection.
Previously, on November 25, at Cai Rong Town Secondary School (Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province), 126 students also ate strange candy from China. After that, 5 students showed symptoms of lip numbness, dizziness, chest tightness, and difficulty breathing and had to be hospitalized for health monitoring.
Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province has directed localities in the area to increase propaganda for students about the harmful effects of candies and snacks of unknown origin; at the same time, assigned functional forces to strictly handle the sale of candies and cakes of unknown origin on the market.
