Today, December 29, the Ministry of Education and Training held a ceremony to honor students who won prizes in the 2024 International Science and Technology Olympiad. 20 of these students were honored to receive the Second and Third Class Labor Medals.
Reporting on the results of Vietnamese students at the 2024 International Olympiads and Science and Technology competitions, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), said that in 2024, Vietnam had 7 delegations participating in the International and Regional Olympiads, with a total of 38 outstanding students participating. The results achieved were better than previous years, with 12 gold medals, 15 silver medals, 10 bronze medals and 1 certificate of merit. Compared to 2023, there were 4 more gold medals and 3 more silver medals.
Vietnamese students participating in this year's International Science and Technology Olympiad have won many gold, silver and bronze medals.
2024 also marks the first time the Vietnamese delegation won second prize at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in the US, affirming the potential for the development of creative education in the field of science and technology.
"If we look further at the results in the next 5 years, the period 2020 - 2024, the number of gold and silver medals and the total number of medals have increased every year, Vietnam's top 10 position in most competitions has been maintained, many competitions have risen to the top 2, top 3 in the world", Mr. Chuong informed.
Mr. Huynh Van Chuong said that in 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to organize a workshop to discuss the discovery, training, fostering, and contributions of key human resources and talents of the country in the past time and listen to comments and contributions to do better in the coming time; in which, information and databases of all students of delegations participating in international Olympic competitions in the past 50 years will be built.
Leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training commended the award-winning students.
The Ministry of Education and Training also pledged to continue to create the best conditions for students to maximize their abilities, become true talents, and contribute to the prosperous development of the country. At the meeting and commendation ceremony of the Ministry of Education and Training, 4 students, 27 groups, and 34 teachers received certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training.
Previously, at the meeting between Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and students who won the 2024 International Science and Technology Olympiad, 10 students were awarded the Second Class Labor Medal, 10 students were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, and 6 students were awarded Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.
