By the end of July, seafood exports reached nearly 5.3 billion USD, up more than 7%. Ensuring quality, output, and good exploitation will help seafood exports soon reach 10 billion USD this year.
Since this third quarter, factories have signed many new orders. Purchasing, processing and seafood export also took place more vibrantly. Recorded in the Mekong Delta - the country's seafood granary.
More than 500 million USD is export turnover that the shrimp capital of Bac Lieu has achieved. To reach the milestone of 1.1 billion USD this year, 48 seafood factories in this province are stepping up processing and increasing exports.
"Going strong into the Korean market with fresh whole shrimp, especially in the near future, the company will export 1 container of fresh goods to Australia", Mr. Tran Be Sau - Factory Executive Director Seafood Processing Viet Uc said.
Mr. Pham Van Thieu - Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee said: "We must closely cooperate with shrimp farmers to maintain stable raw materials. Only with stable raw materials can the factory have enough processing capacity. Bac Lieu has 48 seafood processing factories, but they still cannot meet Bac Lieu's raw material requirements. 50% of Bac Lieu's raw materials still go to other provinces."
In the first half of this year, our country's seafood exports brought in more than 4.4 billion USD, an increase of nearly 7% over the same period in 2023. In addition to the thriving market, investing in deep processing is also an advantage to increase export value for the seafood industry.
"If we do value-added work, we can compete with countries like India, Bangladesh, and Ecuador. Those countries specialize in raw materials," said Mr. Huynh Van Tan, General Director of Camimex Group.
Breaded shrimp products are ready to be exported to Europe. Compared to frozen shrimp, it has a higher selling price of 2-3 USD. Especially when processed deeply, these products easily conquer modern consumption channels such as: restaurants, hotels.
According to seafood businesses, the end of the year is a time of many events and festivals, so the consumption of this product will increase sharply. Ensuring quality, output and exploiting the potential of markets will help our country's seafood exports soon reach 10 billion USD this year.
Pangasius industry breakthrough

Along with shrimp, pangasius exports have brought in more than 800 million USD this year, up nearly 3% over the same period last year. Improving quality and exploiting the potential of markets will help the pangasius industry recover and make a breakthrough in the final months of this year.
The total export revenue of tra fish that the company earned was over 90 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, it increased by about 15%. Thanks to proactive raw material sources and high-quality products, the company has had regular export orders for the whole year.
"If our products are good, we will be consumed a lot. Now, rich people and people with money eat quality products, not cheap products," said Mr. Tran Van Hung - General Director of Hung Ca Company Limited, Dong Thap.
In particular, the Government and ministries and sectors have continuously conducted many diplomatic activities and increased trade promotion, which has also helped our country's pangasius products to be better consumed. Currently, partners from the United States, China, and Europe are increasing imports of this product from Vietnam.
"This year, the situation of orders is relatively stable, especially China is showing very good signs of improvement. Hopefully, Vasep's plan will be completed," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai - General Director of Hanoi - Can Tho Seafood Joint Stock Company.
Mr. Do Lap Nghiep - Deputy General Director of Nam Viet Seafood Corporation said: "It is not by chance that the US, Europe, and other countries trust our quality. Therefore, I think the potential is very good."
The US’s reduction of anti-dumping tax is also opening up many opportunities for Vietnamese pangasius products. To soon reach the $2 billion mark, seafood factories recommend that farmers should raise fish in a cooperative manner, ensuring large output and high quality to compete for export to demanding markets.
Opportunity to accelerate exports at the end of the year

The figures show that the last months of the year will be an opportunity for the seafood industry to achieve its set goals. According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the US, Japan and China are currently the top 3 markets for Vietnamese seafood, with the Chinese market being the largest.
Pangasius, white-leg shrimp, lobster, anchovy and crab are the five most exported Vietnamese aquatic products to China. In particular, lobster and crab exports to this market have made a strong breakthrough, with lobsters increasing 11 times and crabs increasing 7 times compared to the same period last year. China is tightening inspections of shrimp imported from Ecuador, causing a decrease in supply from this country, creating room for Vietnamese white-leg shrimp. In addition, pangasius is also expected to increase its turnover in the Chinese market. The reason is partly due to the high price of tilapia - one of the white-fleshed fish species favored in China - while the supply is in short supply. VASEP predicts that when the supply of tilapia in China is scarce, pangasius can be a potential substitute product.
