Currently, avian influenza in Quang Tri has been controlled. However, the risk of an epidemic occurring in the near future is forecast to be very high. Through proactive sampling of poultry sold at a number of markets in the province, 29 samples were found to be positive for avian influenza type A (genome M) and 2 samples were positive for avian influenza A/H5N1 virus out of 420 tested samples. In order to proactively and effectively control avian influenza and synchronously deploy measures to prevent and control animal diseases in accordance with regulations, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong has just signed and issued a document to provincial departments, branches, sectors, organizations and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities on strengthening the prevention and control of avian influenza.
