On January 16, 2025, the Department of Transport of Quang Nam reported the damage to traffic infrastructure on National Highway 14D due to the impact of heavy rains occurring from October 27, 2024 to January 14, 2025.
Along with that, the high density of heavy trucks has caused local damage to the surface of National Highway 14D, making it difficult for people and vehicles to travel, causing environmental pollution and potential traffic safety risks. The damage is mainly in the form of potholes due to the peeling of the existing foundation and road surface with a depth of 0.2 - 0.4m.
Due to the important location of National Highway 14D (connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with Nam Giang International Border Gate), to ensure traffic safety and gradually complete the traffic infrastructure system, develop the socio-economy associated with ensuring national defense and security, the Ministry of Transport has issued Document No. 13033, dated November 29, 2024, to the Government Office, proposing that the Government Office report to the Prime Minister to consider and invest in the project to upgrade National Highway 14D, the section passing through Quang Nam province.
While waiting for the Prime Minister's direction on investing in the project to upgrade National Highway 14D, in order to have a basis for implementing activities to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and restore traffic activities according to regulations, the Quang Nam Department of Transport proposed that the Vietnam Road Administration approve the scale and solution to ensure temporary traffic by leveling crushed stone to flatten potholes and subsidence areas with a treatment volume of about 21,052m2 .
The Vietnam Road Administration has agreed on solutions to ensure traffic at locations with locally damaged foundations and road surfaces as requested and requested the Quang Nam Department of Transport to urgently implement them.
Quang Nam Department of Transport is responsible for reviewing the damage volume to ensure that the treatment locations do not overlap with the volume performed in regular maintenance work, the volume of periodic repair projects being implemented, or have been implemented and are in the construction warranty period.
