Specifically, the 2025 travel trends survey recently released by the Agoda Digital Travel Platform (Agoda) shows that tourists are increasingly focusing on leisure travel, family experiences, and exploring new destinations. These trends are driving the development of the tourism industry in the Asian region.
Vietnamese tourists are increasingly spending time with their families and looking for relaxation after a busy life, exploring new destinations. Notably, amusement parks have become a popular choice in the travel plans of Vietnamese tourists. According to a survey, 39% of Vietnamese tourists plan to travel with their relatives in 2025, each trip with family is an opportunity to strengthen love.
The survey results also show that solo travel and couple travel are also popular among Vietnamese tourists. The need to escape the busy pace of life is the main reason why Vietnamese tourists pack their bags and hit the road. Along with traditional business trips, the trend of traveling combined with remote work is becoming more and more popular as more and more businesses adopt flexible working policies. The inspiration for Vietnamese tourists to travel can come from personal interests, passions, available budgets, and advice from friends and family.
Research reports recently published by several other organizations show that technology is playing an increasingly important role in Vietnamese tourists' travel planning as many families gradually shift to the habit of using applications to organize their trips. Social networks are increasingly showing a strong influence on travel decisions...
The report of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism shows that the rate of online applications also increased by 33% compared to 2023, the rate of cashless payments reached 91.14%, the satisfaction rate reached 98.64%... In particular, digital transformation and the application of tourism technology not only create convenience for tourists, contribute to business growth, but are also solutions to help the tourism industry achieve encouraging results in 2024. The total number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City reached 6 million (up 20% over the same period in 2023), domestic visitors are estimated at 38 million (up 8.6% over the same period in 2023). Total tourism revenue in 2024 in the City reached 190,000 billion VND (up 18.8% over the same period in 2023).
Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung said that in order to diversify the tourist market, the City will further promote digital transformation in industry management and business activities of tourism enterprises, especially destination promotion communication, brand building and development, short-term, medium-term and long-term communication campaigns; combining domestic and international promotion. At the same time, the City has been focusing on improving the quality and diversifying tourism products on the basis of maximizing the exploitation of unique strengths in line with new tourism trends.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung also stated that the City continues to promote effective and substantive regional tourism linkages based on exploiting the strengths of each region, inter-regional and local characteristics. Enterprises need to continue to improve and enhance the quality of products and services, develop new products that suit the psychology and tastes of tourists. At the same time, they should regularly take the initiative to train themselves, improve the quality of human resources, boldly contribute ideas, propose solutions, and policies to develop tourism into a truly spearhead economic sector.
