How much is the fine for an expired car registration?
- For drivers of automobiles (including trailers or semi-trailers being pulled along) and vehicles similar to automobiles:
+ Fine from 3,000,000 VND to 4,000,000 VND for drivers with a Certificate or stamp of technical safety and environmental protection inspection but expired for less than 01 month (including trailers and semi-trailers);
+ Fine from 4,000,000 VND to 6,000,000 VND for drivers with a Certificate or stamp of technical safety and environmental protection inspection (for vehicles subject to inspection, except temporarily registered vehicles) but the expiration date has been 01 month or more (including trailers and semi-trailers).

- For drivers of tractors (including trailers), specialized motorbikes:
+ Fine from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND for drivers with a Certificate or stamp of technical safety and environmental protection inspection but expired for less than 01 month (including trailers).
+ Fine from 1,000,000 VND to 2,000,000 VND for drivers with a Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection inspection (for vehicles that are required to be inspected, except for temporarily registered vehicles) but the validity period has expired for 01 month or more (including trailers).

Validity of car registration certificate
Pursuant to Clause 2, Article 9 of Circular 16/2021/TT-BGTVT (amended by Article 2 of Circular 08/2023/TT-BGTVT), the validity period of the Inspection Certificate and Inspection Stamp issued according to the inspection cycle specified in Appendix V issued with Circular 08/2023/TT-BGTVT but does not exceed the expiration date of the Vehicle Registration Certificate (if any) or the date the motor vehicle expires.
