“Mini World Cup” at HUTECH causes a storm with 32 teams, gathering hundreds of entrepreneurs and alumni

This tournament is jointly organized by the Alumni Association, the Entrepreneurs Club and the Center for Enterprise Cooperation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the University's founding (April 26, 1995 - April 26, 2025) and the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (April 6).

With 32 teams divided into 8 groups competing in a round-robin format, the tournament is considered to be on a scale no less than a “mini World Cup”, demonstrating a thorough and serious investment in the organization. More than just a sports arena, this is also an activity that connects the community, creating opportunities for exchange between generations of alumni and business people.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong emphasized that HUTECH always focuses on building an ecosystem connecting generations of students and businesses.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong - Vice Principal of the University said: “Not only is it a place to provide knowledge, HUTECH also aims to build an ecosystem connecting generations of students, alumni and businesses - working together to develop. The tournament brings together 32 teams, equivalent to the scale of a World Cup, which is a clear demonstration of sportsmanship, solidarity and professional organization. I believe that, with the spirit of fair play, the tournament will be a great success, opening up more opportunities for connection in the future.”

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the atmosphere at HUTECH Hitech Park Campus football field became exciting with the first dramatic matches. The players gave the audience eye-catching performances, with beautiful moves and diverse tactics. The final match and the award ceremony are expected to take place on April 12, 2025.

Participating as a player in the tournament, “King of amateur football” Nguyen Van Cap - a famous player in the Vietnamese amateur football community shared: “This is a large-scale tournament, very professionally organized. I am especially impressed with the meticulousness from the field to the communication and logistics work. In particular, the tournament is a great opportunity to connect and share among alumni, businesses and amateur football lovers.”

HUTECH Alumni Football 2025 is one of many activities in the series of events "HUTECH Alumni 2025" such as the charity program "Giving is Forever", the job fair "HUTECH Alumni Job Fair 2025", the cultural night "30 years - Day of Return" and the HUTECH Alumni Awards 2025.
