AELTC Chairman Ian Hewitt said the aim of the prize money increase was to restore player prize money to levels seen in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
The 2023 Wimbledon Championships will have a total prize fund of £44.7 million ($56.52 million), an 11.2% increase over the 2022 tournament and the highest ever.
According to the announcement from the tournament organizers All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), the winners and losers of the men's and women's singles finals will also receive prize money corresponding to the 2019 prize money, worth £2.35 million and £1.175 million respectively.
The prize money for winners drops to £1.7m in 2021 before rising to £2m in 2022.
Qualifying prize money is also up 14.5% from 2022, while first-round eliminations are guaranteed a minimum of £55,000, up 10% from last year.
