Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Hoa, said that at around 1:30 p.m. on February 4, the Mo River (Le River) in Dong Nam commune had a landslide of more than 20m of bank, causing river water to overflow into the soil exploitation area of the Mai Chu brick factory.

According to Mr. Nam, this is the connecting section between the Hoang River and the Ly River, whose task is to regulate water to fight drought and serve irrigation for agricultural production.

Quang Xuong Irrigation Branch (under Song Chu Company) is draining the Ly River to limit the amount of water flowing into the Le River.

According to Mr. Nam, the riverbank adjacent to the brick factory's excavation site was eroded because the brick factory drained water from the Le River to raise fish, causing the bank to break.

Currently, the incident has not caused any damage to people's property in the area.

To ensure the safety of people's lives and property, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with relevant parties and directed Mai Chu brick factory to mobilize equipment and machinery to restore and fix the above incident.
